After 15 years of use in a professional kitchen, our old Kool-Tek oven mitts finally gave out (blue gloves) so we ordered a new pair in red.

The new gloves were HUGE! It was 1.5 inches wider compared to the old pair. My hand felt lost in it. Had a hard time gripping hot pans and keeping my hand from sliding around. The material felt thin and it did not take long for me to feel the heat. Tried the San Jamar UCMX17BK Textured Neoprene Ultigrips too. They fit a little better but does not offer much protection for long.

I should have heeded the warnings that this was not for small hands but i thought who has an oven mitt that fits? --- all of them seem to be big so I bought it anyway as my hands aren't that small. Sadly i am returning it as it is so large that when i bend my hand to grasp a pot or pan my hand bends inside the mitt but the mitt still sticks straight out. You can concentrate on grasping the inside of the mitt when you grasp something but you have to really concentrate on using it and for the price i just thought it should be easier to use. Otherwise it appears well made.

This oven mitt is the best, as long as you don't have small hands. I have medium to large hands, and it fits perfectly. I could imagine it might be bulky if you hands are smaller, but htat might not be a problem too. it covers your whole arm, is flexible, and it holds off the heat really well. i had a great grip on pots and dishes, which suprised me since there isn't a rubber grip or anything. I highly recommend this product.

I bought one of these in 2012, after seeing it recommended by various magazines and comparisons. I love that oven mitt, and it's great.

HOWEVER, when I bought a new one in 2014, I got something that is nothing like the old one. The old one fit the hand well and made it easy to grip; the new one is hilariously oversized, and flops all over the place uselessly. I hate the new one as much as I love the old one.

I love these big mitts when taking things out of the oven. However, I hated the magnets in the straps, presumably to allow hanging on the stove. However, they would grab each other, or anything else metal nearby. (They are very strong magnets.) I finally cut the little tag they were in and removed them, and the mitts now are much nicer to use.

These mitts are user friendly - I bought the long ones and they are great if you tend to burn your arms when reaching into the oven!! I usually get the mitts that have the silver fireproof finish on either the inside or the outside but they are very hard to find anymore. They work so well my daughter heisted them for herself - I'll have to buy another pair. And I like the color too!

I've had and used this for 9 years. It's been through the wash many times. It's now covered in spots that won't come out in the wash, but otherwise it's held up. There's wear on the yellow stripe between the the thumb and fingers, but the material underneath is still in tact. I like the arm coverage. The large size is not an issue after being washed, as it has lost it's stiffness. I bought Calphalon Textiles Twill Thumb Mitts to replace it. I use the Calphalon mitts when I'm too embarrassed by the condition of this mitt, but when no one is looking I come back to the Kool-Tek.

This is pretty much a commercial oven mitt: very effective at protecting your hands and arms from heat, but really really gigantic, probably so that it can fit anybody. I really like that they're long enough to protect my arms (I've burned my arms on the sides of ovens enough now), and with these (I bought two), I can move quickly and not worry at all if I bump the side of the oven. However, the mitts are pretty unwieldy when it comes to the hands (my hands are small to maybe medium in size). I often end up getting the thumbs of the mitts in the food, which isn't so nice when it's something like a dessert where the look is important. As for cleaning, at least the mitts are washable. In short, I'd give 5 stars if these came in smaller sizes. I'm considering the Ove-Glove to keep as an option when dexterity is important, and I'll just have to keep an eye on my arms vs. the sides of the oven.
