Yikes that was painful!

Well here goes...The product works and seems to be a good fast replacement for the old 1 TB spinning hard drive that I replaced. Problem is that it took way too long to get this in and up and running. Here is what happened. I Physically installed the drive and connected the cables. Using the provided link and downloading the "dashboard software" that contains the cloning software. Problem one: Drive not recognized. I called support. Robert says the software is not working correctly and the engineers at SanDisk are working on it. Robert helps me get disk initialized and recognized by my system...Great! Now I can clone this thing. Ooops, that software provided by Sandisk Does. Not. Work. Another call and I get Robert again thankfully. He says that there are problems here too and that I should try to google a third party software. Luckily I did that yesterday as I was fooling around in anticipation of today. I found AOMEI, downloaded the free version and after uninstalling the SanDisk broken dashboard and the broken SanDisk cloning software I was able to clone the disk and finally get this up and running. Total time elapsed just under 3 hours. Take this review for your amusement and good luck. I would have a hard time recommending this companies product.

BUYER BEWARE! I received a new hard drive that failed within hours. I initiated an RMA with Sandisk and explained that it was being used in a home server (Plex server). They immediately denied my claim stating that they do not cover "server deploys" for their retail SSDS.

I strongly suggest purchasing from another company if you value good support.

I bought 2 of these - 1 failed within 4 months, the second one lasted about 1/12 years. These were in different computers and just running windows, not on servers or doing any massive read/write. Speed is decent, but... you know..

Dramatic Speed Increase for 2011 Macbook Pro

My friend came to me upset that his 2011 Macbook Pro was getting unbearably slow, so I recommended that rather than buying a new $2000 Macbook and having to deal with the hassle of reloading all his software and transfering documents, that he simply spend a tenth of the price to speed up the one he currently has with this SSD. I helped him do a clone of his old hard drive to this SSD and after that was done we loaded this in and turned on his computer, and everything was still there but his loading time was at least 5 times faster than previously, and his applications loaded almost instantaneously. He is very happy with the performance increase.

One problem you may run into is that you may have to re-input the product key for your Microsoft Office software if you have that installed, as it is tied to your hardware and any hardware changes like this one will deactivate your current registration.

I purchased 2 of these for use with my older MacBook Pro's. The 480GB model was on sale for $99, and i was in the market.

In my case, the plan was to install as replacement for internal spinning boot disk, and then do a clean fresh install (Yosemite on mid-2009) and Sierra on (mid-2012).

Install was a breeze, there are several videos on YouTube. I would rate as "EASY".

Following instructions easily found on Internet, I had already created a USB-flash installer for the MACOS. Powered-up system with new SSD installed and held down OPTION key. I was able to pick the USB drive where the installer resided (you wont see the SSD disk at that point). From there, easily used Disk Utility to format SSD and then installed new instance of MACOS. SImple and easy.

As several reviewers mentioned, this is not the fastest SSD out there, but notably improves speed of system startup and any disk access for older MacBook Pro laptops. However, unlike others, I am not taking a star away because SanDisk doesnt represent itself as top shelf speed. At the price, this is a 5-Star product.

I cannot speak yet to reliability, but SanDisk has strong brand reputation for flash storage, so I expect little issues.

Easy to Install in mid 2012 MacBook Pro9,2

I noted several reviews that talked about finding software to clone the drive but there's an easier way...
I bought this SSD for a mid 2012 Macbook Pro, and this was as simple to install as any Hard Drive; I used the same process I have used for numerous drive replacements.

I use an external HD enclosure with a regular HDD for Backups.
To install this SSD, I first installed it in that same enclosure, and used Disk Utility to erase and reformat the drive.
Then I installed the SSD into the laptop and put my Backup drive in the external enclosure again.
I restarted the laptop (which then automatically booted from the Backup drive) and after it booted I selected the option Restore From Backup.
System used the (external) Backup Drive to copy everything to the new SSD. It took about two and half hours to transfer around 500 GB.
When it was done the system worked perfectly, and much faster than the old one!

(This is exactly the same method I used in the past to install a new HDD.)

5 stars for the disk itself. SanDisk as a WD company now and this ssd is a decent performer. Got this on prime day for a very decent price to upgrade a budget grade hp laptop and boy it has put new life into it! A 20 to 60 second boot is now a mere 7 seconds.
I took a star off, as the drive info listed on sandisks website makes it seem as if there is free cloning software for download. That is not the case.
I had to get a cheap usb to sata Connector, (startech usb 3.0 to sata for 10 bucks) then restored from a macrium reflect drive backup. Not as fast as doing a 1:1 clone, and maybe not the way most would be familiar with, but it was the only way I could go from a 1tb to a 480gb without paying for additional software features.
Also I’m not one to use one of the many freeware-like cloning apps that seem to be Chinese. This is what sandisk had recommended in the online pdf file. IMO It needs to be from a legit company for it to be considered safe.
But this drive seems to be a great buy.

As a non-techie person, I was a little bit apprehensive ordering this kit, especially with all the negative reviews. Spurred on by greatbrit's review and a maddeningly slow Windows 10 computer, I took the plunge and am so glad that I did. No problems with the cloning - didn't even need to do the fix that greatbrit used (maybe they've updated the software?). Just did what the very basic instructions told me to do and it took about 2 hours on a very slow computer to clone everything. As greatbrit advised I was patient while the software took it's time to go through it's stages and left the 'shut down pc when completed' box checked. So no real problems. My very old Sony Vaio vgnnw20ef is now functioning again at an acceptable speed for less than half the price it would have cost at the local computer shop (sorry local shop but you're charging £86 for a 240gb ssd and £40 for an hour's labour = rip off!). Other points: if you want to register the ssd at Sandisk then make a note of the serial number - I think it must be on the ssd itself but I'd already put this in by the time I got to the registration process and didn't really want to take it back out. Also, my original hdd was 300gb with about 130gb of info on there - it wasn't a problem cloning this onto a smaller (240gb) ssd. So, overall a very good experience to keep an ageing computer going - which because of so many negative reviews prompted me to do my first Amazon review - please click if it was helpful :)

Professionnel de l'info., j'achète régulièrement ces modèles (une bonne 50aine par an), version 240, 480, 960.

Je viens de constater des performances non conformes sur 3 disques récemment achetés, avec serial bien éloignés / différents en version 240 Go !

- 130 Mo/s en écriture.
- 420 Mo/s en lecture.

La 1ere pass est @ 330 / 420 Mo/s mais les suivantes baissent.

Mesures effectuées avec AJA, BlackMagic et Disk Sensei …
À disposition, 4 adaptateurs UASP différents en USB. Les 4 annoncent les mêmes perf.
Bien évidemment vérifié à partir d'ordinateurs équipés de SSD (SATA et NVMe).

Avec un SSD de 480 Go (SSD PLUS Sandisk) ou un MX500, les ~ 400 Mo/s attendus sont bien observés (qque soit le nbre de pass).

Qui a / peut faire des essais de son côté ? Qqu'un a une explication (cache ? trompeur ?).
Il se pourrait que Sandisk ait changé le type de mémoire interne … sans changer le packaging … sic !

Je ne me souviens pas d'avoir vérifié ces disques préalablement (les besoins utilisateurs sont tournés vers les versions 480 Go).

Pour ma part désormais c'est MX500 en 250 Go …

Poor speed performance, and almost no improvement when in raid.

I bought 2 of these just to add some speedier storage to my gaming system. I wasn't expecting the world, I have an M.2 Samsung with 3K+MB/s read and writes and another Samsung EVO 860 SSD raid with 1.5kMB/s read and write. I was, however, expecting speeds that came close to those claimed by SanDisk. After all, every other SSD I've had in this system and those still in it (all made by Samsung, 850s in the past, and 860's currently) had all exceeded their claimed speeds.

Connected to a 6GB/s connection, individually these drives get the speeds posted in pic (1), 377MB/s read and 146.1MB/s write (have done many many tests and they are very consistent). In raid0 the pair of these drives gets, as seen in pic (2) 400.6MB/s and 183MB/s write. I've added in a speed test from my other gaming machine (same mobo and cpu) just for the sake of comparison.

*****3rd pic is a pair of 6 year old Samsung EVO 850 250GB SSD's for raid comparison*****

There is hardly performance increase in Raid0, certainly not enough to warrant risking the data stored on them to raid.

I have mechanical drives which exceed the write speed of these drives in raid, I also have a 4-year-old Toshiba USB3.0 external drive which Seq speeds are comparable.

All in all, disappointed with these drives.

Seht euch einfach mal das Bild an. Ich besitze diese Sandsik 1TB SSD, und noch eine von Samsung, die über 1 Jahr alt ist. SanDisk ist so dermaßen langsam, dass ich die wieder zurückschicke und mir eine von Samsung hole.

Nous vous laissez pas berner par les commentaires positifs : les caracteristiques sont bien en dessous de l'annoncé.
Je le trouvais lent comparé a mes SSD qui ont 5 ans, j'ai vite compris pourquoi : 200 Mo/s en ecriture, 300 Mo/s en lecture.
Et comme vous pouvez le voir lors de pic de vitesse on est encore très loins des données constructeurs.
Vous trouverez des test identique d'autres acheteur dans les mauvais commentaire, pour vous en persuader !
