Faster boot‐up. Blazing‐fast gaming.
Accelerate your PC for faster boot‐up and blazing‐fast gaming and graphics when you upgrade to a SanDisk Ultra 3D SSD. You’ll notice that applications load faster and files move quicker—plus you’ll get longer battery life and much cooler, quieter computing¹.
¹As compared to 7200 RPM SATA 2.5” hard drive. Based on published specifications and internal benchmarking tests using PCMark Vantage scores.
Capacities up to 2TB¹, sequential read speeds up to 560MB/s and sequential write speeds up to 530MB/s².
¹ 1 gigabyte (GB) = 1,000,000,000 bytes. Actual user storage less.
² Based on internal testing; performance may vary depending upon drive capacity, host device, OS and application. 1 megabyte (MB)=1,000,000 bytes.
Faster Burst Speeds with nCache 2.0 Technology
Performance is optimized by writing everything into the drive’s high‐speed buffer before transferring it to the flash array. This innovative architecture enables faster burst speeds.

The laptops were a different story. Turns out the Acronis cloning software will only work if you have a WD or Sandisk drive as the source boot drive for the cloning. They wanted a $30 software upgrade per system to buy version that would work with non-WD/SanDisk drives. Instead of that I used a free version of TODO cloning software. You will need to Google for it. I can't post the link per Amazon rules.
The cloning process takes a long time if your drive has ~300 GB of usage. Mine took about 6-7 hours for the cloning process. The second laptop took about 1 hour to clone. It had about 50 GB of data one it. Once the laptop drives were cloned it was just a matter of removing the old hard drives and installing the new SSD drives. The Dell 1564 was easy to swap in the drive. The second laptop a Dell 1570 was a nightmare to do the swap. It entails taking a lot of the laptop apart to get to the hard drive. Not a task for the timid. Downloaded the service manual for the 1570 which details all the disassembly steps. You will need to Google for it. I can't post the link per Amazon rules.
All three of the systems run amazingly faster now.
If you're putting together a screaming gaming machine, you're probably looking for an nvme drive to get around 4x the speed. But for general use or upgrading from a spinning disk drive, this is fast and reliable. The Samsung 850 has encryption and a 5 year warranty, but the SanDisk warranty has more writes allowed in the 3 year warranty! If I don't need the encryption, I would gladly save a little and get this. For a laptop I'd prefer this over older versions because it's supposed to be power efficient.
I don't think it comes with cloning software, but I already own a copy of Aconis True Image. I used that to clone my old 240GB drive to this drive and expand the partition so the full 500GB is available. Hard drive manufacturers say 1000MB is a gigabyte so this reads at a little under 500GB in a computer but that's normal and true for all SSD drives and spinning disc hard drives.
It was plug and play for me. It works great. I've had no issues with it. I'm a computer tech and I have no issues suggesting this drive. It works and it's quick! :)
