Excellent! Only issue I had was I did not know this was formatted in X-FAT32. I bought this thumb drive to put the movies I have on my PC on it so that I could watch them in my living room on my smart tv... after spending a couple hours transferring files to the drive, I plug it into my smart tv and get an error telling me that the drive was not supported. I tried it on my Sony Blu-ray that has a usb slot for external media and it doesn’t recognize the drive either. I tell my husband about it and he says I need to format the thumb drive with a regular FAT32 file system. Well, I did as I was instructed, reloaded the movies after formatting with FAT32 and bingo! Both my smart tv and my Blu-ray can now read the files on the drive! So, if anyone has problems with your devices reading or even recognizing the drive after loading files in the X-FAT32 format, reformat the drive with FAT32 and then reload your files. You should be good to go! SANDISK, YOU REALLY SHOULD LABLE THE PACKAGING WITH THE TYPE OF FORMATING ON THE DRIVE! That would save people a lot of wasted time knowing this in advance!

The flash drive works well out of the box. The slider allows the user to protect the USB connector when not in use. It extends the connector and locks it in place when needed. However, the included SanDiskSecure Access software is confusing, because its "Download for Mac" document makes it seem that it is necessary to install in order to use the flash drive. But the software is intended to set up encryption and password protection for data on the drive. This is not needed for most users who just want to transfer data. I removed the software installer from this drive to free up space.

Beware of the Secure Vault Feature

has fairly good capacity for the $$ but is pretty slow, and, BEWARE OF THE SECURE VAULT feature, as it password protects the files you put in, but then does not recognize the password you used (i even wrote mine down, ensured caps weren't on, and double checked my typing), and then you cannot access the files you are trying to secure, and, there is no way to reset the password, and you have to delete the whole thing...USELESS!

Seemed OK at first, but the videos I was trying to play from it kept having errors. Tried to re-format and it will no longer function at all. Want to return it, but even though I supposedly have 2 more weeks on the return period Amazon says it's not eligible for return. Totally not happy. Even the promotional flash drives I've gotten at trade shows work better.

I was looking for a cheap drive and was OK with 2.0 speeds but the write speeds at 4.5MB/s on this are much worse, about what you get with a cheap give-away drive.

Read speeds are a decent 35 MB/s. This drive would be OK if you rarely wrote to it and mostly used it for reading -- or you don't care about the write speed.

This is the last SanDisk drive I will buy, I have 3 and they all suck on write speeds.

Speed Drops out of the box

This drive has a speed drop on every transfer, going from 18 MB/s to 2 MB/s. On the files I transferred, there was at least two speed drops each time. For perspective, this meant transfers that should take 1 minute each could take up to 3 or more minutes. The performance was like this out of the box. It's unacceptable for a product to be unable to consistently deliver target speeds out of the box, brand new. SanDisk was a go-to brand for storage, but with this experience it's clear something has changed in the quality. I'd say stay away from this drive and find something with more reliable speeds unless you have alot of time to waste. I'll be pursuing a refund if these speed drops don't stop.

I could not get the .exe file to update. A window pops up that there is an update and it downloads the update but fails to start the SanDisk software application. Everytime I click on the .exe file it wants to run the update again. I can manually move files to the USB drive but the SanDisk application will not start. The packaging and the product information is vague what operating systems it is compatible with. I read reviews and answers to questions on Amazon stating it works with the Windows 10 operating system version prior to purchase. We also purchased a 32GB SanDisk flash drive(same version)in the frustration free packaging and we are experiencing the same "won't update software" symptoms. The product information needs to be more specific for these flash drives.

If you order this becuase its description is 16GB, then be aware that there is only 14.3GB capacity on it, so if you need all the 16GB don't buy this, I feel a little pissed, paid for a 16GB USB Stick got a USB with just 14.3 Capacity, the reason I wanted a 16GB USB was becuase the data I wanted to put on it was 15GB. a waste of my time and money.

Luckily I didn't quite need close to the full stated capacity, but I was shocked to find a reduction of over 10% of rated storage capacity for no reason whatsoever, even taking into account the miserly 12Mb or so of included software. The stick is rated at 16GB but only 14.3GB is available (17,179,860,387 should be on board, but only 15,356,608,512 is available). I don't know if this is the case with the larger storage sticks, but a 10% reduction in usable memory on a high capacity stick can be critical to some projects, I imagine.

Yes, I know there is a disclaimer on the product page stating "1 GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes. Actual user storage less." (which is actually wrong anyway as 1 GB = 1,073,741,274 bytes) but the page should state somewhere exactly, or at least an approximation of, the amount of usable memory.

Very disappointed for a Sandisk product.
