I had some issues recording 1080/30fps on my D5100 with previous PNY Professional card. Several tests with HD video and consecutive still frame bursts never even hiccuped! They actually told me that I would have to buy the (now outdated and overpriced) SDSDXP1-016G to get 45MB/s. I researched this for a couple of evenings, and still knew enough to explain to SanDisk that the SDSDXPA-016G is the new version of what they told me to buy, and it's now 95MB/s for the same price! So here's the breakdown of what I found as of 3/22/12: Lower price Extreme SDHC: SDSDRX3-016G - 30MB/s - OLD SDSDX-016G - 45MB/s - CURRENT (Apparently Brand New) Higher price Extreme Pro SDHC: SDSDXP1-016G - 45MB/s - OLD SDSDXPA-016G - 95MB/s - CURRENT The cards are all about the same price if you buy the same classification and GB size. I happen to get a fake rebranded card and it was not easy to tell. I contacted sandisk and they verified by the serials and images that it was indeed a fake card. More so I did a test on the card to see if it was a small 4-8gb card or even a real 64. Its a real 64gb card but some cheap china one I assume. You cant always tell by the cards because sometimes they look pretty good. There were a few things that threw me off. 1. the yellow lock switch 2.the serials and images on the back of the card 3. The super gold plates 4. The plastic (real ones will look different) 5. The sticker on the front (off center and not perfect) 6. Speed testing. 7. Gut instincts (varies based on size of gut and experience) I did a heavy load on the card with 50gb of wedding images and it handled it. Next I did a Black magic speed test and ill post the numbers below. I contacted amazon and they have allowed the refund to be made. I cant risk having a low performance card for weddings especially for the price. If you can please double check your cards by verifying it through Sandisk services. I shot photographs in many different parts of the world. I had a 64 gb card in the camera and periodically backed up my photos on my pc and on an external hard drive. I really like my Panasonic FZ70, but I noticed when I was around and shooting photographs with other photographers that their cameras shot to next shot speed was significantly faster than mine. If there was some type of action going on, they seem to be able to shoot several times (individual hitting of the shutter button) before I could get two shots off. It took my camera longer to get ready for the next shot. My friend, suggested I get a new SD card. As the 64GB I had was not full yet, I initially resisted. So she recommended this card, which she said is even better than hers. While watching some seagull bobbing in the water off of galveston beach, I was trying to capture a shot of them at the top and bottom of the wave they were riding. I hit the shutter and immediately noticed no delay before the camera was ready for the next shot. I was stunned. I recorded about two minutes of video. When complete normally the camera makes me wait until it writes the video to the card, this time the camera wrote it instantly. But then after reading the first part of the product description I discovered that these are only capable of up to 60MB/s write speed. Well, 60MB/s is still great at this price point so I ordered two! Well, the cards arrived today, so I decided to test one of them. I tested the card and found that it is writing at less than 50MB/s. So, I looked a little more carefully at the product information and see that only the 128GB and 256GB versions of the card operate at up to 60MB/s; the smaller cards are 40MB/s. It's very frustrating to have cards advertised as 90MB/s, and then find out in the fine print that the write speed (the most important speed for taking lots of photos with a high megapixel DSLR in RAW) is half that speed. They have all worked without an issue untill today. I dread calling any company for return support because it usually is such a tortured experience...(Ever tried calling SanDisk for product support?) Withing 20 seconds of dialing I was connected to their representative Marc Crawford. He was able to quickly and clearly guide me to the support I needed. It was such a shockingly great experience that I wanted to pass it along to potential purchasers. UPDATE 9-10 I own 4 of these cards now. I have more of these than any other card I own because they are a very good value for capacity/price/and speed. My initial disappointment over the lack of super high speed is outweighed by the reality that this card is an exceptional value. If you own a compact digital camera, or SD/HD video camera, this card will exceed the capabilities of all of them. For compact cameras the card isn't usually the slowest part of the data write process, it's the camera. This card unloads very quickly with a 20MB/s read speed. You will need a SDHC card reader if you don't have one. A standard SD card reader will not read a HC (high capacity) card. These cards make great gifts. I have given several of the 8 Gig cards as gifts and have received appreciation and great comments from all the recipients. UPDATED REVIEW: I purchased this card making the assumption that all class 10 cards had the same read and write speed. This was a poor assumption on my part. In order for a card to qualify for class 10 speed the card needs to be certified to have 10MB/s write and read speed. Some manufacturers classify their cards at a slower speed even though they qualify for a higher class. SanDisk make some cards that would qualify for class 10 and rates them as class 6. The product photo on Amazon does not have the card's speed printed on it. The card that was shipped shows the front of the card printed with "20MB/s" which is the cards read speed. The cards write speed is 16MB/s. I own a SanDisk Extreme III class 10 card that has (up to) 30MB/s read and write speed. My Nikon D-90 that can take advantage of the SanDisk cards speed. The difference is the SanDisk card can capture 100 photos at fine resolution in 24 seconds. The Transcend card captures 66 photos in the same time/resolution. I reality very few people will ever have the need to drill off 100 photos in 24 seconds, but I can't stand to lose a good shot because the camera is slow while writing to the card and I can't fire the shutter. You can hear this happen at about 4.5 seconds in the video review. This does not happen with the SanDisk class 10 30MB/s card. If you own an SLR that is capable of rapid fire, high-resolution photography you may want to consider the SanDisk Extreme III 30 MB/s card. It is expensive. This card is reasonably priced for a class 10 card. Just know what you are getting, what your needs may be, and what else is available. I own other Transcend cards and they have always worked properly without any issues. The video that I attached shows this card with the same 24 seconds that I gave the SanDisk Card. Great for 60D + Magic Lantern

The speed of this card may be overkill for standard shooting/filming. However, I use Magic Lantern on my 60D, which is a firmware modification that runs off of the SD card. I noticed that my Transcend 32 GB Class 10 SDHC Flash Memory Card TS32GSDHC10E had a hard time keeping up with some of the functions of the additional software. I decided to give the faster card a try, and the functions (such as magic zoom and focus peaking) work much better now.

Of course, pulling pictures and video off the card is also quicker than with the Transcend. Although both cards are "Class 10," the SanDisk is 50% faster than the Transcend.

Watch out for fake SanDisk cards, here's how

Great card, but be sure you buy from an authorized SanDisk seller, such as directly from Amazon.com. The list of SanDisk authorized sellers can be found on SanDisk's website. I purchased (6) of these cards from a 3rd party seller here through Amazon, the seller I will not disclose, but instead I suggest you buy from only an authorized SanDisk seller.

Here are the qualities of my fake cards:
- First, when in doubt, call SanDisk. They have a toll free # to call to verify your cards.
- The cards are marked with "Made In Taiwan", while the packaging says "Made In China"
- The serial numbers are not where SanDisk's serial numbers usually are (per http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/12703/~/product-code-and-serial-numbers-location#sd)
- The sticker is highly reflective, much more than cards I purchased directly from Amazon.com
- The back has a lot more writing on it than shown on SanDisk website
- The lock slider is yellow, versus grey from the authentic cards
- One of the cards failed on the 2nd attempt of using it
- The plastic case the cards came in is much lower quality than SanDisk
- The packaging says SDXC while this item listed on Amazon is for SDHC
- The cards say 60 MB/s while the packaging says 45 MB/s

Faster and Cheaper SDHC UHS-1 card

This is my second SanDisk Extreme 32GB SDHC UHS-1 card. First card (SDSDXR3-032G-A21) is the 30MB/Sec card that says HD Video on the label. This new card (SDSDX-032G-X46) is the 45MB/Sec product replacement for this class. Using a card reader that is USB 3.0 and UHS-1 capable, CrystalDiskMark was run for 50MB, 100MB, 500MB, 1000MB, 2000MB, and 4000MB loads. The sequential read and write were very consistent for this card, 45MB/sec and 43MB/sec respectively for reading and writing. Retesting the -A21 card showed consistent rate of 45MB/sec and 34MB/sec for reading and writing. It appears the new and improved SanDisk Extreme card writes about 25% faster.

Isn't it all about the writing speed?

Class 10 mandates a minimum sustained rate of 10MB/sec read/write speed. UHS is an enhancement to original SD specification in the SDA 3.0 specification for SDHC and SDXC. UHS-1 is also a 10MB/sec minimum sustained specification. UHS is a faster bus for moving data. There is UHS-50 and UHS-104 for 50MB/sec and 104MB/sec, devices are not there yet. UHS-1 is backward compatible with SDHC. Beware of SDXC, if your device does not explicitly support the extended capacity card, this will not work for you.

If your camera supports UHS-1 and takes advantage of higher write speed, you can take big pictures and be ready to take another - quicker. 25% quicker than the previous version of Extreme UHS-1 SDHC card from SanDisk. 32GB will store over 4300 pictures for me at highest resolution, or at lowest resolution - over 48,000 pictures. Don't forget to backup, that's a lifetime or two worth of images.
