Looks like a few reviewers are having errors. Mine worked fine for a week. Then I started having Errors when I tried to open a downloaded game. Switch kept telling me the game had corrupted files so I Redownloaded again and again but the error never went away. It happened to many games but not all of them. But since a few days ago, I couldn’t even download any games from eshop, the error code indicated that the SD card is not working properly. Now I’m now in the process of returning this junk.
* card was inserted correctly, and the system has the latest updated version.
* tried restarting the console and formatting the card but didn’t help.
* errors were definitely not caused by the console. Here’s why: I downloaded Splatoon 2 into this card at first and it had errors, then I took out the card and downloaded into the concole, and the game worked properly. Same with any other games. Currently I’m using a new card from another brand, everything looks good so far.
* one more weird thing happened was when I checked out the storage, it said I have used over 50GB. But I only had 7 games! I added them up, the total used storage should be less than 30GB. I have no clue why it showed 20 more GB has been used. The largest game I had was Dragon ball with 7 GB and the rest only have a few GB like one or two. I clearly remember every game’s storage size that I’ve downloaded so I was so shocked when it tells me I’ve used almost half of the storage already.
Even it has a fair price and says licensed by Nintendo but somehow some people like me are having problems with it. This might not happen to you 100% so if you still want to try it, go for it. But if you start having errors with any of your games, return it, as soon as possible.
For those wondering why the free space on the card read 119, it is because of the way gigabytes are calculated.
The package has 1gb equaling 1,000,000,000 bytes. Really 1gb is 1,073,741,824 bytes. That 73,741,824 bytes (73.7 megabytes) missing per gigabyte. That really adds up.
All SD card and USB stick manufacturers use this calculation method; not just Sandisk.
Then I turned on my switch, and beat the hell out of bowser in smash bros.
Cliff notes: this memory card, while pricier than others, is really cool and a bit nostalgic. But it works!
My huge issue with this product is that the packaging indicates 64 GB of storage but when I looked at my storage on the Switch it showed 59.4 GB of storage available on the Micro SD card. I have no idea what could possibly take up 4.6 GB of storage. I have none of my Nintendo files saved to the card and it indicates nothing is stored on it but clearly shows less storage than advertised.
In the case that it uses that 4.6 GB for other necessary purposes then SanDisk should advertise the Micro SD card's storage capacity correctly at 59.4 or lie less and at most say 60 GB of storage.
Aside from being lied to about storage space the product works, and cost was really affordable.
I would not recommend this Micro SD card unless you don't care about nearly 5 GB not being available.
Top international reviews
it works exactly as you would expect, the print is excellent and for an SD card it looks fantastic
If you're not too bothered about the novelty side of the card, I would recommend getting a regular micro sd card for your switch, you dont need this one any will do, as they all do exactly the same job.
👍Carte prête a l'emploi
Test#1 - Computer with i7 processor, 16GB RAM
CrystalDiskMark test showed 92MB Read / 86 Write.
Test#2 - LG G7 One - AndroidOne
A1 SD Bench test showed 75MB Read / 54MB Write.
As you can see this card this card can be used on devices other than the Nintendo switch, which is something I was curious about before I made the purchase. This deserves a 5 Stars from me!
As the fast speeds for reading is great for loading games, but for writing it's not really needed, as most people will just download their games overnight. I personnally would just go for one of the other sandisk micro sd cards with ~double storage at the same price, if I were to buy again.
Prices seem to fluctuate on Amazon for this card but when I bought it the price was £24.74 which is good for a top brand 128gb memory card with the specs it has.
Having the security of knowing that it is a Nintendo endorsed product is very comforting as the last thing I want is to lose games and saves to a cheap card corrution.
I've included a picture of where the card goes (under the kick stand) as many people seem to struggle to find it.
I recommend this card no problem.
My work colleagues all gave me an amazon voucher for my recent birthday, and I thought it was the perfect time to get one. I found this adorable SD card and I must admit, although you can get one without a Mario Mushroom on it for less money - I wanted the mushroom one! It's super adorable - the card itself is red and comes in Mario themed packaging and you just pop it in and it works like a dream. My workmates all thought it was super cute too, when I showed them and thanked them again.
It's been approved to work with Switch, so you don't have to worry about it being a dodgy card or that it may not have the capacity it states, which can sometimes happen when buying external memory online.
You can get one with a higher capacity that has a Super Star (Starman) on it which I just found super cute - that will be the next one I get if I need it (I have a mix of digi-downloads and hard copies so have more than enough with this one for now!).
So in short - you don't NEED to pay a bit more for a Mario Mushroom SD card - however, you are paying for not only the aesthetic but the fact that it is approved to work with Switch consoles. I'm glad I did, it gave me enough joy to justify a bit of extra spend - and had I not had a gift voucher, I would have bought this one outright regardless.
Would highly recommend!
I spent ages looking online for a suitable SD card and decided to go with the Nintendo endorsed SanDisk card.
Extremely cost effective. Easily installation, plug and play, the switch does all the work.
Read speed is very quick and digital content loads immediately.
I love the design, the mushroom is a nice touch and means that I won't every get it mixed up with my other SD cards.
