I don't know what the issue is. The computer defaults to a UEFI instead of a BIOS, so perhaps that's the problem. Maybe the software didn't set up the partitions correctly because the new drive is somewhat larger than the original, though that seems a pretty common thing for a hard drive replacement. It may be fixable but I haven't yet spent the time because it's such a pain to replace the drive in that computer. Maybe I'll try again when I have hours for troubleshooting and waiting for tech support. For now it's just gathering dust; it probably would make a speedy external drive if I wanted to use it that way. If I figure out how to make it work, I'll update this review.
UPDATE:
I finally had time to spend a day fiddling with this disk and it's now operational so I added a star to this rating. I must say that SanDisk responded very promptly to my request for support. When my computer would not boot from the SSD, I submitted an e-mail support request on the SanDisk Web site. They responded within a few hours with a solution that ultimately worked, though it was painful to implement.
SanDisk said there was likely something wrong with the operating system on the computer that caused the clone to the SSD not to boot, though I had not had any previous trouble with the computer. They suggested plugging in the SSD as an external drive and using the Windows command line program "diskpart" to completely wipe off all the data and partitions, then installing the SSD into the laptop and using a recovery disk to re-install Windows. That worked perfectly. The problem, of course, is that it took the better part of a day to physically swap the disks, re-install Windows, re-upgrade from the Windows 8 recovery to Windows 10, re-install the other software, and copy all the data files from backup.
I'm withholding the final star because the promised easy cloning process didn't work and the one-time license of the software didn't allow any fiddling to get it to work. The SSD hardware, though, is now working very well and has added welcome "snap" to an aging laptop.
I chose to purchase this Sandisk Ultra because it was on sale at a huge discount for the size drive it was. I wondered if it would work on my 17" MacBook Pro but everything I read said it would. I did the install and performed a clone using Carbon Copy (paid edition) and then substituted the drive for the one in the MacBook Pro. I was very concerned that the switch wouldn't work or that something would be wrong but everything booted up and because of the exact Carbon Copy Clone my computer never knew there was a new Hard Drive installed. AS for speed .... W O W! Even though I had already been pre-warned by Apple and Sandisk that due to transfer speeds and that this drive's interface could be faster that I should notice some improvement. The improvement I noticed was that the computer seemed not only faster but extremely faster. I can honestly say that at times it appears that my computer is not only four times faster but even exponentially faster as some things.
On one application that I knew was slow, using my old Hard Drive, I compared it to the boot up and "ready time" using the new SSD drive. With the old 1 TB Hard Drive 7200 RPM my photography editing application was ready to edit the image brought up with it in 15 seconds. With the new SanDisk SSD Drive (the only change I made) the same application (remember I carbon coped/cloned it from drive to drive so it was the exact same application) loaded and was ready for editing and use in 3 seconds time. I went from 15 seconds to 3 seconds with just the change of the drive. That was fantastic and the same type results were found across the board.
I have a new MacBook computer and there is no way I'm ever selling my 17" MacBook pro which is ever bit as fast as any of the newer MacBooks and/or Windows 10 Machines with their Solid State Drives. The install was an easy job with little difficulty and I was able to have it completed within 25 minutes time. I HOPE that the stability and the endurance of this Solid State drive will be great as well and that it will hold up a long time but I can only report on what I know to this point and that is that I have a new computer and an extremely fast one, thanks to the sole change out of the Hard Drive from old style 7200 RPM model to Solid State SanDisk drive.

Bon montage !
also informiert und 2x gekauft.

In case anyone else has any trouble making the change, these are the issues I faced and how I overcame them: Firstly I bought an external hard drive enclosure with a USB3 connection. I popped the new SSD in the enclosure and plugged it in the laptop's USB. I was expecting to see it come up as a drive with a letter, but it didn't. I'm not sure if the next step was even necessary in the end, but I went into Disk Management (right-click Windows icon in bottom-left of screen and select Disk Management). Anyway, sure enough it showed up there and I manually assigned it a path and drive letter, but as I say, I'm not sure I need have bothered.
The next issue was finding software that would make the clone. First I tried EZ Gig IV which you're able to use free with a Sandisk product purchase, but it kept getting stuck at 86% due to some bad sectors error or something. Next Macrium Reflect which looked simple and was recommended by a lot of people, but seemed unable to deal with the issue of the SSD capacity being slightly smaller than the HDD despite the HDD not being full. Next up was EaseUS DiskCopy. I can't remember what the issue was with it, but I couldn't get it to work anyway. Finally I used Arconis True Image which is a paid for programme (maybe you can find a demo version or something, I'm not sure) and worked perfectly and only took 45 minutes to run.
After that I just swapped the drives, turned the laptop back on and held my breath expecting problems, but to my amazement it booted up in seconds and has been absolutely fine since. Best computer upgrade I've ever made!
This item appeared on offer and having conducted some approx measurements of the existing drive I decided to purchase.
The item arrived securely packaged and contained in an antistatic plastic sleeve. It gave the appearance and feel of quality from the word go. Instructions were clear however after research I decided to use another free cloning software option. This I found together with some useful help on You Tube. My particular concern was the possible loss of data in this project in transferring to the new SSD. There were no such issues however when I came to install. I used AOMEI software for cloning which I found very user friendly.
The cloning process does take several hours although I would imagine this varies with the software used and the speed of the PC.
I have had no cause to look at changing my laptop since and the speed it runs at now is considerably faster than before. The outgoing Hard drive has also been housed in a caddy and works as an excellent Portable hard drive (an unforeseen bonus). This I reformatted once I knew the SSD was working perfectly.
I have read that an SSD upgrade is one of the best you can do and after this project I can definitely confirm.
