From the brand
How we got our start?Sanabul started in 2014. We weren’t satisfied with the variety, cost, or availability of Jiu-Jitsu gis. We took matters into our own hands and started making high quality gis, in rad designs. After disrupting the gi industry, we moved on to rash guards, gloves, shin guards, hand wraps, pads, shorts.
What makes our product unique?Sanabul employees use Sanabul equipment in our own daily training. We recruit professionals to fine tune our R&D. We partner with top brands like Disney to bring you innovative collaborations like our Star Wars series. We make high quality gear at affordable prices so everyone can join team Sanabul.
Why we love what we do?Combat sports and conditioning is a passion, addiction, family protection, self improvement, mood enhancement, stress reduction, social support, entertainment, and general boost to quality of life. The opportunity to provide equipment for this fantastic endeavor is a privilege and honor for Sanabul!
Life is expensive, a good gi doesn't have to be
Since we introduced the first Sanabul Essentials gi, the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gi market landscape has changed dramatically. Long gone are the days of expensive gi's that serve the basic principle of keeping you covered while you learn and practice the art of Jiu Jitsu.
Our goal was to create a brand name bjj gi that was both aesthetically appealing and durable that everyone can afford
Focus on what's important
The most important secret to getting better at Jiu Jitsu is doing more Jiu Jitsu; Don’t worry about the gi because we took care of that part.
The contrast stitching, subtle design elements and details, athletic cut. You'll never worry about how you look while training.
The highly durable, reinforced ultra light weight fabric has been tested and made to withstand even the most grueling training sessions.
Size matters, because we are Sanabul
We are Sanabul, a company that has no affiliation with any other brand of gi you previously owned. What does that mean? We have our own sizing for gis. For example, if you wear an A2 in another brands gi, it might not mean you are an A2 in ours.
Our gi's tend to run a little larger than some of the other brands, so we created a size guide that is more extensive than any other brand
You 'can' teach an old dog new tricks
We strive to continue improving our products and have made drastic improvements to the Essentials gi since its inception, the biggest of which is using Pre-Shrunk fabric in version 2.
What does 'pre-shrunk' fabric mean? It means the gi will be on its best behavior and you won’t get any unexpected surprises after washing or drying. For example, if the gi fits perfectly out of the bag, wash it in cold water and hang dry and you will hardly get any shrinkage

Upon opening the package, the first thing you'll notice is the lightness. It definitely lives up to its lightweight claim. Once you unfold it, the jacket is surprisingly good quality for the price and extremely soft. Most gis take quite a few sessions and washes to break in and feel so comfortable, but this one is great right out the package. As others have mentioned, the pants are very thin. You can see your skin color through them and your underwear/compression/jock. Keep that in mind. For me, not a big deal, don't really care.
I washed it once and the jacket appeared unchanged but the pant inseam shrank about .5-1" which made them perfect. I like my gi pants to sit above my ankle.
I rolled this morning in it and it held up well. It wasn't scratchy or rough on the skin.
If I had to give a clear negative, it is that the collar is very soft and easy to grip and hold whereas nicer gis with rubberized collars wear your opponent's grip strength out quickly.
Lastly, I weigh 220 at 5'11. A3 fits very well.
EDIT #1: I've rolled about a dozen times now in this gi. It has held up well. A few loose threads here and there but nothing destructive to the material or fatal to the structure. I'll update again should something change. So far, very satisfied and would purchase more if more color options were available.
5'6", 165 and in shape (lean, not bulky).
My dress shirt size is 16-1/2 neck, 34 sleeve.
Slacks are 32 W x 31 L.
Suit jacket 39 or 40 Reg.
Looks good out of the package (Blk/ Red).
Pant length with draw string set on my hips was just at the floor (no shoes on, obviously). I was not swimming in the pants but there was ample room to easily maneuver/ shrimp/ etc. Jacket size left enough room in shoulders with no restriction. Sleeve length ran just a little long falling beneath the meat of my palm just past the thumb joint. Jacket length was fine but it is about an inch shorter than I expected but this is more a style preference. The belted waist allowed movement but does seem just a little square/ short (no taper in the waist). What I mean is, if I had a large beer gut then the overlap at the front of the jacket would be minimal.
Cold water wash/ lowest heat setting.Yes, I know you are supposed to hang dry but the fact of the matter is, with my tight life schedule, this thing will find itself in the dryer every now and again whether you approve or not.
1/2" pant length loss putting the bottom cuff almost perfectly at the bottom of the round ankle/ foot bone (medial malleolus).
Jacket - sleeve length shortened minimally and cuff sits like a nice suit jacket that is maybe a 1/4" too long (a little room for additional shrinkage).
No other change in fit noted at all.
1st roll in it:
A few compliments on the look.
Rather light without feeling paper thin.
Time will tell more on durability. I hope this helped. Cheers.
I like both styles for different reasons, and that's the thing that irritates me... now I want another heavy one for winter and 2 more light ones for summer, but there doesn't seem to be any clear way to differentiate between the two styles except perhaps going by color and hoping for the best. This is the only reason I'm dinging the product a star -- it's a great product but there's no clear way to know which version you're getting.

Super ligero, se siente resistente y me da buena movilidad.
El cordón del pantalón es muy grueso, pero hasta ahora no me ha dado problema.
