I don't want you to read my books--I want you to live the stories. When I write habitable prose, stories you can live yourself rather than just read, the end game is that you, the reader, own the story. It's yours--you lived, breathed, hoped, sweated, struggled, fought it, believed in it--thus you own it.

That's the writing I teach--habitable, liveable prose--at my university. That's what I think is most worth reading.

Chris Manno earned his undergraduate degree in English from the Virginia Military Institute and his PhD in English from Texas Christian University.

In addition to flying a full schedule as an airline captain for a major carrier, he teaches writing at Texas Christian University.

Little mountain towns, trains, time travel, romance, adventure, separation and redemption

Ben has just buried his father, sold the family business, quit his job, broke up with his girl friend and having discovered an intriguing but non working time piece in a box of his dead grandfather's odds and ends decided on a spur of the moment train trip to a repair shop for fine watches located in a little town in the Allegheny Mountains. The closer he gets to his destination the stranger people, places, and happenings become. One thing leads to another and he finds himself being recruited for a daring, perhaps one way, rescue trip back to... Enough given away, suffice to say that I've just stumbled upon an accomplished author with several novels and short story collections under his belt. If they are as good as Sanctuary Moon I am in for a real treat. Refreshingly original world building, unusual but believable characters that you can root for, a near bittersweet ending, all put together with style. Thank you Mr. Manno for putting in so much work at mastering your craft, it has not been in vain.
