From the Publisher
This book has been translated and enhanced from the fifth edition of Carte de Bucate by Sanda Marin that was published in 1966. The first edition was published in 1938 and contained close to 10,000 recipes. After the war, an abbreviated version was republished and has served as inspiration to many cookbook authors in Romania. Nevertheless, Sanda Marin's Cookbook remains the one book every Romanian, young or old, has heard about and has used and loved. This English version has been featured in The International Cookbook Revue, vol. II, no. 1, p.53, Jan.-Feb., 1997.

As for the information inside the book, it is nothing less than perfect--EXACTLY what I was hoping it would be. This book contains traditional Romanian recipes for all types of foods and meals, even wild game. If you are looking for a vast collection of Romanian recipes, I highly recommend this book.
Like other buyers I too grew up with this book, my grandma passing its first edition down to me, it is a treasure trove of Romanian culinary delights. Book is very easy to understand and recipes user friendly for all. My only disappointment is that it misses the humor ( the awesome Romanian jokes ) and drawings, words of wisdom and stories, etc that the original Sandra Marin book contains.
Overall it serves it's purpose and it's a delight to have this book translated in English. Thank you, Alina
Well organized, well translated, splendid presentation.
I congratulate Alina and Peter Deutsch for this very useful little "kooks' Bible".
I have it in Romanian and comes just in time for my americanized children who are not so good into reading or tranlating Romanian.
Congratulation to family Deutsch.
A small suggestion for a future edition: liquids are in measured in mililiters, liters etc... It is improper used, for exemple, 100g oil... It is much much better 100ml oil...
You understand what I mean...
The cook book is easy to understand and recepies are easy to follow.
I do not like the spiral binding, it is difficult to turn pages and with heavy use pages will start to rip.
