In retaliation the US military and the White House decide to find Taliban leaders responsible for that crime with the help of the US Army officer from the family of immigrants from Afganistan who is instructed to join Taliban and call an air strike when he will be near Taliban top commanders.
The plot reminded me of Alex Berenson's book The Faithful Spy where the CIA agent becomes deeply entrenched in al Qaeda, but that's where the similarities end.
Unfortunately, after exciting first chapter, Sandblast becomes rather boring "diary of events", lacking passion, intrigue and tense expectations needed in any good action novel.
Characters are bland, their dialogues and actions are boring to follow.
There is a big difference between a book with simple "account of events" and an action military/spy novel which, ideally!, should keep readers in grips of a plot and on the edge of their seats.
For me Sandblast didn't meet those expectations.
It is going to be extremely hard to wait until the Al Pessins’ next book scheduled to be published late this year to early next year.
I have already compiled a list of friends I will be ordering copies for.
