Product Description

Take the field with a new lineup of scrappy sandlot sluggers! Starring Luke Perry as a pampered pro athlete who rediscovers his love for the game, The Sandlot: Heading Home is a pulse-pounding and heartwarming tale about losing your ego, putting your friends first...and winning it all!

Major league baseball superstar Tommy Santorelli (Perry) racks up great numbers at the plate, but his "me-first" attitude drags his team down. But Tommy gets a second chance when he's knocked unconscious by a pitch and wakes up as a 12-year-old on his childhood playing field...the sandlot! Now, with a greedy developer, Earl Needman, threatening to bulldoze the sandlot unless Tommy's ragtag friends can beat Needman's much-better team, Tommy must decide whether to put his own interests first by switching teams...or stay true to his friends by leading them to their greatest victory yet!

If good things happen to good people, does it follows that bad things happen to bad people or do bad things happen to help people become better? In this third movie of the Sandlot trilogy, the famous and very egocentric baseball player Tommy Santorelli of the Los Angeles Dodgers is knocked unconscious during batting practice and wakes up 29 years in the past. As a 12-year-old boy with the intellect and memories of a 41-year-old, Tommy finds himself surrounded by old friends at a long-forgotten sandlot and completely confused about whether it's all some kind of trauma-induced dream or a second chance to re-live his life. His initial fury is gradually replaced by a grudging acceptance and the realization that he's been given a rare opportunity to spend time with his dying mother. Tommy's disdain for the local sandlot players and his conceited attitude put him at odds with his old friends, but his top-notch baseball skills eventually win their admiration and secure him a place on the team. As Tommy unwillingly assumes a teaching role, he begins to understand the importance of teamwork and mentorship and the Sandlot team improves dramatically. In the end, Tommy is forced to make a personal choice between friendship and fame; a choice that will impact the team's ability to win the Little League Tournament, determine the very fate of the local sandlot, and greatly affect Tommy's own future. (Ages 6 and older) --Tami Horiuchi

I was such a huge fan of the first Sandlot movie, that I've picked up both the second one, and now this 3rd movie. While the 2nd movie made just vague references to the events of the first movie, this one seems much more linked to the original, even going as far as having two characters from the first movie (Benny and Squints) appear. Squints is even played by the same actor, all grown up now and he looks just the same. The two of them reminisce about old times and even mention the Great Hambino, now a pro wrestler. The movie itself was standard fare for this type. Decent story, decent acting by the new kids, nothing really special. Worth watching if you love sports/kids movies like this, but you won't miss anything if you skip it.

If you enjoyed the Sandlot and Sandlot 2, you're sure to like Sandlot 3 - Heading Home. The original Sandlot was definitely a tough act to follow, and unless you were alive and kicking in the 1970's, younger viewers might not understand all the political references in Sandlot 2. The Sandlot 3 comes full circle and is a wonderful family movie. The characters are real and the story line is heartwarming. Get out the popcorn, gather your family together and get ready to enjoy The Sandlot 3 - Heading Home.

With Sandlot 2 being more of a remake than sequel to the first fun filled romp about chasing your dreams and growing up, the Sandlot 3 Heading Home is a refreshing new take on the idea. A major leaguer is caught in the commercialism and material trappings associated with the wealth of ball players and needs to get back to basics: the love of the game. hit on the head with a ricocheted ball off a sign while fireworks are going off, Santorelli is transported backward in time and is back home on the sandlot with the boys he called friends and a team when he was 12 back in 1976. the bond they share helps Santorelli right a lot of wrongs in his life and ultimately changes his fate in positive ways. Benny the Jet Rodriguez is back as the then major leaguer that never lost sight of his roots and Squints is back as well, adding more original cast appeal as a supporting player in a cast filled with leading kids who are on a much higher acting level than the kids of the second movie. The Sandlot 3 Heading Home is a great new take on the ideals of the franchise and is indicative of the kind of good values movies we should be encouraging all of our kids to see. There is something for everyone to love in the film, whether you're 8 or 80, but the film's most obvious audience member targets are those who were close in age to the kids in the movie back in '76 as I was. With every bit of heart as high as the original, Sandlot Heading Home should be added to your must see list. 5 stars

“The Sandlot 3: Heading Home” is a clumsy, cluttered, copied sequel of the much-loved “The Sandlot”. As I watched “Heading Home”, I found myself wistfully thinking of just how good the original was. It seemed like almost every scene seemed to click. By contrast, the timing is off in this sequel, the acting is often cringe-worthy and the plot is cluttered, contrived and stale. The cluttered nature of the plot hinders the film from delivering any of its themes effectively. The film does deal with themes of friendship and teamwork, but they tend to get lost in a film that has subplots about a dying mother, a kid who hasn’t talked since his dad died, a team full of neighborhood bullies and a nasty real estate developer who wants to tear down the sandlot. A theme from the dying mother subplot is, “Good things happen to good people.” This theme sometimes crowds out the friendship theme, and it is often not true. Besides, it’s questionable whether it teaches the right motive for doing the right thing. “The Sandlot 3” is not as bad as “The Sandlot 2” and can probably entertain very young children, but it isn’t the kind of family film that has something for every member of the family. In other words, it isn’t in “The Sandlot’s” league. My favorite part was a cameo by former Phillie John Kruk.

This movies is the 1990s generation's answer to the Bad News Bears. Totally appropriate for younger kids-- 8 and up and entertaining until 12, easily (you'll forget how much swearing and cigarette smoking is in Bad News Bears until you watch it with a 9 year old by mistake) Also sends a clear message of be nice and work hard.

My grandson loves all the Sandlot Movies and I thought they were pretty good too. He made me watch them, but I actually enjoyed the movies and his reaction to them. Simplistic maybe, but good messages for kids in each.

my 7yo son just started little league, so we rented this movie for family movie night. I didn't realize this movie is the third one of a trilogy, and it was just as we'll because this movie was very enjoyable on its own. the kids liked the theme of loyalty to a team, and friendship, and also how it shows the loving relationship between the main character and his mother.

For those who loved the Sandlot, this does take it home. The movie sends a message that our choices can make a difference in how are lives turn out. Good things happen to good people. Better than Sandlot 2, as with all sequals it is not a good as the first movie.
