Yes, we have Facebook and duo and facetime... but I just love being a le to drop in with video with my mom and being able to send her announcements. She normally has no clue of where she puts her phone when she is at home and this has just been a lifesaver because I could not get a hold of her before. Now she just hears my voice and comes to the screen. She can also play all the music she wants. I love it (I have one myself). The apps are super easy to use and I love being able to follow recipes on it, watching Netflix while I cook, being able to drop in on the Echo Show I have upstairs and checking in why my kids aren't coming down, and even being able to control my smart lights and seeing who is at the door with my ring camera. Believe me, once you go Show, you will never let it go. 🤣 My problem now is I want smart everything now since I got this wonderful thing for me and my mom.

The Handy Device You Didn't Know You Need

I didn't think I would ever need an Echo Show -- my Dots seemed to adequately meet my needs. Then I got a couple Ring doorbells and all of a sudden I "needed" a Show. Now I've got three Ring cameras also linked and I wonder why I waited. I was originally leaning toward the Show 8, but the 5 sits inconspicuously by my chair and is perfectly adequate for how I use it. I have a second Show 5 coming for my bedside table and would highly recommend this little monitor (currently only $40 from Amazon) for anyone getting started in DIY home security. Setup is amazingly easy and the entire system works perfectly with my mesh system.

I like it so far. I don't have the app on my phone but it does what I need. I purchased this as a replacement for that other company's device. I received the light bulb that goes with it. The only thing I don't like is that the buld has to be close to the echo or be close to another buld that's close to the echo base station. When I say close, I mean on the same floor or same large room. You can't place the bulb downstairs while the base station is upstairs. So that's the only reason this product doesn't get 5 stars. But so far, I love it!
