A veteran CIA officer stumbles upon a conspiracy and is executed for her nosiness. A friend of the murder victim, Nora Mossa, another CIA agent, quickly finds her life in danger. She flees, deciding the only person who can help her is Alex Koves, an ex-agent and Nora’s former lover; unfortunately, he wants nothing to do with her. But Alex can’t resist the excitement he feels when on an active assignment. Not knowing whom to trust, they are forced to work off the grid if they are to find retribution for the death of their friend. The conspiracy involves high-up members of the government helping Iran develop nuclear capability, and they are willing to kill anyone who stands in their way. The character development here is first-rate, and the story line is intense. What could easily have been just another conspiracy thriller feels fresh and new in the capable hands of first-novelist Lee. The ending leaves some of the story unresolved, suggesting that a series is in the making. That would be a very good thing. --Jeff Ayers

“Sandstorm is excitement detonated! Taut and terrifying, Alan Lee's debut thriller drops us into the kill zone of possibilities lurking behind real headlines.” ―Vince Flynn, New York Times bestselling author of Kill Shot

In SANDSTORM, world stability is threatened when a CIA agent is murdered. Agent Norma Mossa, her protégée, is next in line to be eliminated. Because she can trust no one, she seeks the help of ex-CIA agent, Alex Koves, who steps up to protect not only his ex-lover Mossa but also to right the wrongs of his past and to solve the present crisis.
I love a great spy thriller, and Lee does not disappoint. That this is Lee's debut novel speaks to just how talented an author he is. His command of the written word is enthralling. And his ability to tell a story is a gift.
I'm not going to go into an in depth analysis here but will make a few additional points. There were a couple characters who could have been more completely fleshed out. That said at least 3 of the characters made a big enough impact that I'm looking forward to this being a series on the order of Mitch Rapp, Scott Harvath, or Pike Logan.
As an example of the 'fun' aspect of the writing, I'll finish with this darkly humorous quote:
"The pair fell in unison, as if synchronized dying were a sporting event."

The book tells it like it is, or might just be, or might happen soon...
Although it is fiction Alan makes it seam true, real and highly exciting.
It is clear that Alan is deep into the subject matter, understands how people tick and knows how to tell a story!!
N.Y. Times should pin this book as a true number 1!
Guess all that's left is to wait for the next book and see how things continue.
I for one will be waiting and wondering.
Thx very much Alan, you wet our appetite well, hope to see the next course soon:-)
