My current purchase was a replacement for a similar model (DT-180) that became unusable when the headphone jack collapsed into the interior of the unit. But that was after two years of constant use. This similar durability issue at the top of the body has occurred almost immediately after purchase. It's too bad, because I've owned a half-dozen pocket-sized and table-top radios made by Sangean over the years and always found the quality to be excellent in the past. Here's hoping they announce a fix to the issue so I can regain trust in the brand.
*** UPDATE, 9 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE *** Shortly after writing the above review, the fifth and final preset button fell out. I lived with that situation until today. From the second photo I posted you can see that the on-off button on the side is broken, stuck in inside the case in the down position. I can pry back to the out position, but the button is unresponsive and therefore the radio won't turn on. That means that every single functional component on the surface of my last two Sangean pocket radios have all failed--headphone jack, presets, and on-off button. Enough!
I can no longer justify paying a premium price for a junk product. Today I purchased Chinese off-brand at half the price to replace my last Sangean purchase ever.

This review is an update. Initially, I gave this radio 5 stars. But now, less than 3 months since I received it, the batteries I install die in 1 day. I've tried 3 times with new batteries but it always dies the same day. Now I remove the batteries whenever I don't use it for any length of time. My radio still go off automatically every hour or so when I am using it to supposedly save the batteries. I don't know the problem so when I get tired of wasting batteries, I'll look for another brand to buy.
If you, the seller or maker of this type of radios, have had this problem and know how to prevent or fix it, please let me know thru Amazon.
Thank you.
The reception is great! Crystal clear audio and the digital bass bost is a charmer especially with FM audio quality.
And fyi, this radio doesn't have a built-in speaker so you need to plug this to the earphone or at the aux input of any bt speaker.
The most annoying thing about the design of this radio is that when you plug this to the aux input of any speaker, the speaker, being a magnetic device, creates interference with the FM signal so when the FM reception is not that great, this can severly affect its signal :(
But overall, great look, reception and quality deserves a 4 star review from me.

Update: I have had this radio for over a year now and I probably average 3 hours/day, including an hour or so jogging/walking. Still a very good radio. No problems with tuning, FM stereo, etc. A good value.

Having recently found it, I take it on my daily walks. I get bored of just listening to music so it's nice to have FM and AM radio so I can listen to talk radio as well. One thing I've found is that an alkaline battery lasts forever in this thing. Listening to it for at least an hour a day the battery lasts an easy 3 months. It's still going to so I'm not sure what the limit is, but it's excellent none the less.

The ON switch only turns the unit on - there is literally no way to turn it off. It only shuts itself off 90 minutes after being turned on! Seriously! This has got to be the very stupidest feature ever put into a portable radio!
I had specifrically told the Amazon search function to dispolay portable radios with an external speaker, so I was astounded when this set arrived - and it can only be listened to with a headset.
Also, because it is a Sangean, I had expected better than average reception, but I can hardly hear CBC One from Toronto - although it is only 50 miles away.
If you're looking for a quality radio with sensible functions and good reception - definitely skip this one ...

Edit. Some radios from the 1990s had a sensitivity switch, between local and distant stations. This radio omits such a control, and its sensitivity to distant stations is below standards that were once set. In the same vein, although this radio has a feature to turn Stereo Off, to reduce background noise on weak stations, doing so reduces BG noise considerably but still doesn't allow for yet-weaker stations to be heard.
