About the Author
Emily James grew up watching TV shows like Matlock, Monk, and Murder She Wrote. (It’s pure coincidence that they all begin with an M.) It was no surprise to anyone when she turned into a mystery writer.
She writes books with quirky characters and a touch of romance. She keeps them clean because she wants her books to be the kind you could share with your teenager or your mother.

It opens with Nicole and, us readers, finding out that her beloved boyfriend, Attorney Peter Walsh being taken in for questioning on the death of his wife...what? Wife? Yes, Peter is not an honest hardworking good boyfriend, he is a cheating husband. Nicole is shocked and honestly, you are taken along with her...I was shocked.
As her parents own the law firm that Nicole and Peter work for, it is a given that they will represent him in court. As Nicole strives to equate the Peter she knows with this other Peter, she finds out that perhaps she isn't meant to be an attorney, at least not a 'Defense' one.
We are also introduced to her Uncle Stan. That is interesting because Ms. James next (rather first) novel is "A Sticky Inheritance" and that novel is stellar.
This novel put everyone in context and was a good mystery with a strong ending that leads to even finer books ahead.
I received this book for free from instafreebie and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
I received this as a free e-book by joining Emily James' pre-readers group. I loved her first two books, when I purchased them, and decided to become part of her pre-readers group.
