Oh my freaking gosh!!! I have a new book boyfriend.  Who knows you can take a geeky scholar and make him so sexy. -  Cruising Susan Author Promos and Reviews

I sat down this afternoon to start reading a few pages and only put it down when I'd finished it all...Dante had me swooning. In this book geek equals sexy.  - Cheekypee Reads and Reviews

Wow! This was my first Ren Monterrey read, and I was not disappointed, at all! Ren Monterrey did a wonderful job bringing The Club into play in a very unconventional, forbidden type love. Ren presented both Mary and Dante very well, and didn't think twice about their chemistry; it seemed to come natural for them, and eventually exploded into a very, very satisfying ending. A wonderful 5 STARS to Ren on a job well done for this phenomenal book. - Battery Operated Blog

Oh my freaking gosh!!! I have a new book boyfriend. Who knows you can take a geeky scholar and make him so sexy. In addition, just his behavior is a hoot. Ren outdid herself when she wrote Sapphire Beautiful. Let me tell you ladies and gents, that this novel will leave you swooning. Sapphire Beautiful is more unique than Ren's other novels, and I absolutely loved it. A solid five star rating for a novel that fulfills everything that you can think of in a romance novel.

Dr. Mary Pine has been left in a huge mess by her now deceased husband. Broke and in a midst of a scandal her husband was involved in, Mary turns to a source of income to help her out of her jam,. The Club. Little does she know that the man she is to entertain is not only a research scholar at her university.

Dante is this geeky scholar that to be honest the geek in him makes him sexy. I absolutely loved his character. He was reserved, self-conscious, and in a hot way sort of alpha. Dante seeks for more, but that could ruin everything Mary has strived for. In addition, Dante's family is pulling his strings forcing him to be a puppet to their every demands. I really did not like his family. Dante could never see how someone of Mary's caliber could care for a man like him. I just loved how Mary fulfilled that need in him to be reassured that he was okay. The family made me so mad, especially the siblings.

Sapphire Beautiful is truly that. Beautiful. There are endearing moments that will have the reader so captivated that they lose track of all time. And the ending is a twist that will leave you smiling and craving for more of Dante and Mary.

4 "Sapphire" Stars

Sapphire Beautiful is the fourth book in The Club series but can be read as a standalone. It was my first book by Ren Monterrey but I will be rectifying that soon as I go back and read her previous works. This story was one of second chances, new beginnings and finding something you never thought you'd have.

Mary Pine is a university professor of Medieval Studies. She has been working for the last five years to be able to apply for tenure. The time has finally come but her life has fallen apart. Her husband, another university professor, was accused of sleeping with students in exchange for grades. During the fallout, he committed suicide leaving Mary with bills and a mortgage she can't pay. One day she over hears two students talking about The Club. She finds out that it's a place men go to find young coeds they pay to sleep with. Mary, older than her students, still decides that if she doesn't want to lose her home, she is going to have to take drastic measures. Joining The Club is that drastic measure.

After joining she meets the only man who wants someone in their early 30's, Dante McNally. He's the son of one of the richest families in the United States but has always been the odd guy out. Using The Club's services he finds Mary and wants more to the relationship than Mary anticipates. She assumes it will basically be a weekly booty call but Dante seems to want a girlfriend more than anything. As they spend time together, Mary realizes that she likes Dante and more than just what he's learned to do in bed. But when she realizes that Dante is their new graduate student, she can't let anyone know that they are involved if she wants to keep her job.

Despite the synopsis, I was surprised by this book and The Club. This is my first read from Ren, but I will be going back to read the first three and will look forward to future books from her. This can be read as a stand alone.
Mary is a professor in need of cash after her husband drained their bank accounts prior to committing suicide after a HUGE scandal broke. Mary overhears a couple students talking about The Club and decides to give it a try. She is assigned to Dante - an extremely wealthy young man. I expected cocky and arrogant. What I received was heart wrenching and made me fall in love with Dante almost immediately. Dante's the kind of hero you didn't know that you wanted in your life. He stands out in the wealthy crowd and well as on campus - but for very different reasons. When he and Mary are together the first time, she is nervous, and he is awkward. She wants to keep this purely physical and he wants the girlfriend experience. She has no desire to fall in love, but fate has other plans in store for this couple. This was the most real and down to earth (for the most part) relationship I've read in a long time. It also had one of the best HEA's. I highly recommend this read. Go pick it up for yourself!

I really liked the main characters. Dante was refreshingly atypical for a romance hero. He was not an alpha male. Rather he insecure and vulnerable. He was very sweet and loving towards Mary. Despite his their arrangement began he always respected her. Also physically he did not look like most romance heroes I usually read about. He was lean and appeared to be skinny until he undressed. He was bullied by his siblings, even as an adult. He was terrible dresser with a bad haircut, Also he was not a manhioe, which I loved. He only had one other sexual experience besides the heroine and it was not good. I admit to loving possessive and jealousy heroes and Dante was. He did not like OM paying attention to his Mary.

Mary too was not a sterotypical romance book heroine. She was 10 years older than Dante, in her early thirties. She too was sexually inexperienced. She had two lovers before Dante. Both long term relationships, a high school boyfriend and her husband. She was a young widow whose husband had killed himself when caught up in a sexual scandal.

Their first time together was realistic for a sexually inexperienced male, which I liked since Dante quickly improved, learning to pleasure her. He lasted only minutes the first time and then other smex scenes were hot.

I liked the HEA ending and will be reading more books in this series.
