I ordered this card because I was looking for a 2GB 6950 from a good manufacturer with non reference cooling.
(I hate Turbine Coolers with a passion)
I was not looking to unlock, but I do consider it a bonus.

The Good:
It runs Cold. At 900 Core and 99% load It was only 65C in my Antec P280. In a case with better airflow, It will be even cooler.
At 900MHz Core its a definite upgrade from my old GTX470 at 775MHz Core.
Looks Good
Shaders May unlock depending on the method you use.

The Bad:
Only Sapphire TRIXX offers Voltage control for Overclocking which makes an otherwise great card that would be fun to push nearly useless.
After one night of working with MSI Afterburner(Industry Standard) and the .cfg file changes, the most I was able to do is get the Core clock to be modifiable.
Voltage remained tweakable only in Trixx. IF you dont mind, its a great buy, but TRIXX is a terrible program for someone who is used to Afterburner, and ended up being a deal-breaker.
Most of the time, Shaders are locked, and not even a BIOS flash to a 6970(Which can damage the VRAM by forcing it to run out of spec) changes that.
Unlocking on a non first gen 6950 usually only adds about a 3-6% performance increase and ~80Watts of power draw.
Max VCore is 1.18, meaning the card is really held back from its max potential.

Why 5 Stars even though I sound like I hate it?
If you are new to overclocking, Want a very fast card that can do 900 Core on stock voltage, or don't care about using terrible software for your overclocking, there are far worse choices than this card. It is a truly solid card, and worth every penny. But I messed up an ordered a card that wasn't what I needed. Thats not a reflection of the card quality, its a reflection of me.

Addendum:
After speaking with SpicyBomb via email, they agreed to give me a refund even though It wasn't defective and didn't meet their requirements for return.
They were incredibly helpful, and very easy to work with.
Im sending it back with the unused Dirt3 Code and Unregistered Warranty information, and ill be looking for another 6950 2GB with fewer restrictions.
Probably a HIS IceQ or an MSI Twin Frozr II/III.

I bought this card as an upgrade to my Sapphire HD5750. This card is well built, not flashy and very powerful! It installed fairly easily, although I had to move my hard drives to a different slot in my case as this card spans the entire inside of my Antec 900 case. The performance is amazing. Battlefield 3 runs at 80+ fps on Ultra @ 1280x1024. On high/ultra hybrid I was getting 120+ fps. Last night I noticed some choppiness while playing. I exited my game to try and free up some resources and started getting artifacts (video errors) on my screen. My display froze, went blank and then returned saying the driver crashed and was recovered. It looped this way forever.

I have done everything software wise to fix this, and I believe it is a corrupt memory issue on the card, but I cannot confirm this. I have done no modifications, over clocking etc. to any of my hardware. The GPU sat at a comfortable 45-48C and never had fan issues. See the video below for the artifacting. I checked an "Egg Themed" online retailer and found that there were 7 of 127 reviews that were negative. Almost all of them seem to have the same freezing artifacting issue, so it doesn't appear to be a fluke.

All this being said, I am STILL going to get this card. I will send this back (Amazon service has been great!!!) and get another and cross my fingers. Again, this card is AWSOME, when it works.

Video: [..]

***UPDATE***

So i have run this card on windows generic drivers for quite a while as all of the catalyst drivers would cause artifacting, even on the new card. I just installed 13.1 and no artifacts. Yay AMD for getting the drivers straight. Added stars!

DX 11 looks great!! This is a quiet card. Has a great cooler. There is no second bios/switch, as of this time there is no bios to unlock the Extra shaders.

Cons: does not have 2 duel link DVI one is Single link DVI my 30" had to be plugged into a specific DL-DVI to work and the 24" in the second SL-DVI to see the right resolutions.

Launching BFBC2 blanks my second LCD unless you turn off AERO

This card burned up in 7 days. new 1 on order, just play'n BFBC2,Dirt3 and normal use. this did not last long?
Second card burned up in 2 days. NO OC just BFBC2,Dirt3 and movies, watched temps they were fine.,could be a bad power profile in there bios from some reviews I've read on line, or a flow problem on the GPU solder. Hate to do it but going to try the HIS.

I love Sapphire products just upgraded from my 4870 x2. I'm 98% sure I did nothing to make this card go bad. A new video card should be easy I don't understand why there are troubles.

To be more clear when I say burned up I was getting small checker board pattern corruptions in the center band of high end video games 1/3 of the area specific to the middle. top and bottom were clear.First card went all areas same pattern.

If Sapphire reads this or some one see's a solution please reply.
I got my new HIS 6950 IceQX and it worked fine no problems at all this leads me to believe there was a bios issue or a random hardware incompatibility.I did Use the second/alternate rail for the video power this time just in case it was the power but I don't see how I could go from a working 4870 X2 and have a power issue on a new 6950.
