Unrivaled Visuals with DirectX 11 Support

The Radeon 5850 is a graphics powerhouse. With more than two billion transistors and 2.09 TeraFLOPS of processing power, it can muscle through even the most hardware-intensive games. As a Toxic Edition, the card has been pre-overclocked for added performance. It also uses advanced GDDR5 memory that can keep up with the high-bandwidth demands of today's games. With so much graphic power at its disposal, the card guarantees a smooth, latency-free gaming experience.

The card also boasts superior filtering capabilities. It supports up to 24x super-sample anti-aliasing that works to smooth out jagged edges and eliminate graphical artifacts. And with up to 16x anisotropic filtering, textures appear sharper than ever.

Most importantly, however, the Radeon 5850 gives you access to DirectX 11 (DX11)--the next generation of PC graphics technology. DX11 unlocks brand-new graphical features like tessellation, which allows for greater realism and detail. More and more games rely on DX11, and with the Radeon 5850, you won't be left behind with an inferior graphics card.

ATI Eyefinity for an Immersive, Panoramic View

The Radeon 5850 also features ATI Eyefinity, a radical new technology that allows you to expand your display across up to three monitors. Using Eyefinity, you can achieve a wide, panorama-like display. Since each monitor preserves its native resolution, you'll be able to link your monitors without a decrease in sharpness.

If you're a gamer, the added visual space gives you a real advantage. Shooter fans will have expanded peripheral vision and will react faster to incoming enemies. Real-time strategists will get a commanding view of the map and will be able to execute strategies more effectively. And flight simulators will feel more immersive than ever, placing you directly in the cockpit.

High-Definition Video and Audio

With the Radeon 5850, you'll be able to enjoy all of your HD media with unparalleled crispness and clarity. The card is equipped with ATI Avivo, a new reference technology that speeds up HD image processing. With Avivo, you can expect flawless, smooth video playback, with faster decoding and post-processing than ever. Avivo also enables full HDMI connectivity and support for the latest HD color profiles, so you can watch Blu-ray movies on your computer.

The Radeon 5850 also sports an integrated audio controller that supports HD audio profiles like AC-3, AAC, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS-HD. It features up to 7.1 channel surround audio and delivers a powerful HD audio performance.

Energy Efficient and Quiet

Thanks to ATI's industry-leading power design, you'll also enjoy the ultimate in energy efficiency and quietness while using the Radeon 5850. The card utilizes PowerPlay technology, which dynamically adjusts power use depending on how active the card is. This helps the GPU disperse heat more effectively, ensuring that your card runs safely and stably. It also makes the card quieter, so you can hear your games instead of your computer.

Crossfire Support for Multiple GPU Power

PC gaming is more immersive than ever before, but it is also much more hardware intensive. To keep up with the latest benchmarks, one graphics card sometimes isn't enough. Thankfully, the ATI Radeon 5850 supports Crossfire, which allows you to link two graphics cards together for a greatly increased GPU output. This added graphic power eliminates frame-rate hiccups and slowdowns and improves your gaming even more.

The Sapphire Radeon Toxic HD 5850 PCI-Express Dual Graphics Card is backed by a three-year warranty.

Before upgrading to this card I was using one of the first model 5850's. My first one was noisy at times, especially when first starting your system up. The manual fan control was nice, but anything over 40% and it gets loud. Temps stayed relatively cool, idle between 35-38c and under loads between 45-50c. The Toxic HD5850 Vapor-X card is a nice upgrade in many aspects...Firstly, it comes with their award-winning vapor-x cooling system and is factory overclocked to perform up to par with the 5870. The main thing I liked about this card is that it was very quiet and I was of course expecting this since my Toxic 4890 was also very quiet. My card stays even more cool as idle between 30-33c and under loads between 46-48-ish. Games where I really notice nice gameplay is in Crysis, Crysis: Warhead, BioShock 1 & 2, and Bad company 2 all on high settings. Blu-ray playback is very nice too as I use ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre.

In conclusion, it is good performing card and worth the price. Keep in mind that the 5850 Toxic is slightly longer then the reference 5850...It's about 10.0-10.1 inches in length verses the reference being about 9.5 inches.

this card is great. killer performance, low noise, low power consumption. but it is a custom PCB (blue). basically you can't over-volt this card (without Hard mod). if you want hardcore overclocking don't buy it, better get ASUS,MSI or any reference card.
however this card is a performer and it does overclock pretty well @ the locked voltage of 1.088. for me, it does the job.

This is the second Sapphire Radeon Toxic 5850 I purchased for a cross-fire configuration. Mind you, neither this card nor my processor and board are the latest and greatest, but they play the games with no sweat. Believe me, I questioned the value and necessity of even having two graphic cards in one computer but i'm not regretful. The graphics improved quite a bit. One note for those of you who are not familiar, and i have only found out this myself. Not every game will take advantage of the cross-fire configuration. I absolutely love to play Medal of Honor, as opposed to Call of Duty. The graphics of Medal of Honor did not improve. I may even say that the display appeared to suffer due to what appears Raster Scan Lines. I am guessing that the cards are sharing the task by one doing odd lines and the other even. Call of Duty on the other hand has become much sharper and more responsive. I don't play that much because I'm an older gentleman who's nothing more than a fish in a bucket.

In my humble opinion this graphic card is more than sufficient to handle what is thrown at it. It's definitely worth the price.

It's awesome. If you're just playing Source-powered games (Half-Life 2, Counter-Strike: Source, Garry's Mod, Team Fortress 2, Portal, Portal 2, etc.), this thing is excellent. It rarely gets up to even 50% load with all settings on max in Garry's Mod, even less in Team Fortress 2 and Half-Life 2. Portal 2 looks amazing on max settings! This card won't help you, however, if your CPU is your bottleneck. You will not get the full performance of this card if you run it on an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ system (believe me, I've tried)-you NEED a Core i5 (or better) for gaming.

This card is overclockable, but you need the Sapphire Trixx utility to overvolt it.

This card does run a little hot. It likes to go over 60 Celsius.

Overall, this is a great graphics card and you won't be sorry you bought it.

Congratulations! Your search for a video card is over. I got this card over a year ago after going through multiple disappointing cards from other manufacturers. I am so happy with this card I'm considering buying a 2nd one for crossfire. Its powerful and can play most games at the highest settings. The vapor cooling technology in this thing really work because I never have to fuss with the fan or temp settings and it stays cool and incredibly quite even after a hardcore gaming session. In short, I would strongly recommend this to a friend.
