If you love Sarah and Gershwin, you'll absolutely love this too! The orchestrations are fresh and lively, as well as beautiful and sublime! I thought I couldn't possibly hear another rendition of, "The Man I love", or "How Long Has This Been Going On?" that would equal Sarah's other versions or the the classic Ella Fitzgerald Songbooks, but I DID! Those are the two standout versions on the CD for me! But there are memorable moments and different styles on every cut that make this album stand apart! You can play this softly as background music on lower volume or just crank it up when you're alone and listen to her wonderful voice in all of it's glory! This is a MUST HAVE!

P.S. When I purchased this, it was selling at an unbelievably low price...it's one of the best bargains on Amazon!

This is one of the first Sarah Vaughan recordings I ever heard. Her Great Songs from Hit Shows was from the same period. Both albums are a must for any admirer. "Isn't It A Pity" and "I Won't Say I will" are favorites of mine but they're all gems -- "Love Walked In," "Summertime" and every song around which she wraps that lushly gorgeous voice of hers. Great orchestrations too. I prefer the Gershwin reissues which don't have alternate takes. It can get tiresome having to hear each stop and start although I am enough of fan to have the sets without alternates as well as the ones with.

Listen, we're talking about one of the greatest vocalist artists of the 20th century. If you have somehow missed these sets until now then you are in for one helluva treat. If you already know them then you know we're talking "essential" here.

Sassy was part of that amazing group that included Ella, Billie and Carmen whom we were so incredibly lucky to have. This is music for the ages.

The importance of Sarah's EmArcy recordings is that her voice was still supple, her capability of moving up and down was intact. Gershwin is one of the composers who brought out her best.

Ditto for all the praise heaped upon this CD (and its mate, vol. 1). For me, it all started when I heard "I've Got A Crush On You" on the radio and started crying. That was the moment! Sass recorded so many great dates, but it seems few people in this country know about her.
