Welcome to Thermal Cooking! Saratoga Jack's thermal cooker is a highly insulated stainless steel lined thermal container unit, with a lid that seals shut and a fold up/down handle for easy portability. The inner stainless steel cooking pots, includes one large 7 liter pot with a heavy duty deluxe bottom, with the addition of a smaller pot that can be nested inside of the larger one, providing a place for a optional small side dish. Use of the smaller pot is optional. It can be removed to accommodate larger quantities of food in the larger pot, which can be used separate and independent of the smaller nesting pot. The deluxe heavy duty bottom is on the larger pot only. A thermal cooker like an electric slow cooker cooks food at low healthy temperatures. The advantage with a thermal cooker is that you have a inner pot you use on your stove to bring your recipe to a simmer and then after simmering for a few minutes to as many as 30, you simply take the pot of the stove, place it in the insulated outer container and close the lid. From the moment you close the lid the heat of the food is held inside and used to finish the cooking of your meal. No more power, stove time or fuss is needed. Simply let it sit and it finishes cooking without burning or even over cooking your recipe.

The first thing I cooked in it was beef stew. I cut up the beef into cube sizes, added a little oil to the large pot, and browned the beef cubes. After they were browned I added my other ingrediants. I used canned vegetables, because that's all I had on hand, and added the water from the cans directly into the pot. After all the ingrediants were added, plus the spices, I put on the lid and brought the pot to a boil for 5 minutes. The entire "cooking" process, from start to a 5 minute boil, took 30 minutes.
I then put the large pot into the thermal cooker, closed the lid, and left it alone. By supper time (about 5 hours later) I opened the thermal cooker. Very hot steam came out of it. I checked the temperature of the stew and it was 175 degrees. Too hot to just wolf down a huge spoon full. I had to let my bowl of beef stew cool a bit. And, man was it tasty! My wife and daughter loved it as well.
The beef was tender, and the vegetables weren't overcooked even though they came from a can. So, fresh cut veggies would work just as well. The outside of the thermal cooker never got hot. So, it would be safe to put in a car, take on a boat, etc and not have to worry about little hands touching it and getting burned. As long as the lid stays closed the thermal cooker is doing its job.
I suspect my beef stew would have been ready to eat in as little as 2 hours. If I was making chicken stew I would allow about 3 hours before eating it. But, even so, the entire meal was still hot and ready 5 hours later and after only 30 minutes of "cook" time. My next meal will be beans and possibly cornbread (made in the smaller pot at the same time).

Heat it all up in the internal SS pot/s, put in thermal container, leave for a while, come back to delicious hot dinner.
Similar to a crock pot but no electricity required!

more than I thought I would, but do love the get it ready and forget it for the next several hours. I'm still learning
how to best cook in it and what foods work the best, but I'm glad I purchased it.
