About the Author
Gioja Ralui is a pseudonym composed of a few parts of our names. We are all traditional embroidery enthusiasts and none of us is an embroideress by profession or operates a school of embroidery. We met “virtually” many years ago, being members of a group born on the web where you could explore the various aspects of classic embroidery and exchange ideas, tips, information and news. Later we met “for real” and a true friendship was born! Each of us continued to embroider while the first blogs were started, thus Renata started writing tutorials on punt’e nù as she had learned it, while Jeanine and Luisa started experimenting with this technique. Then, during a trip to Italy, Jeanine and Giovanna visited Renata in Sardinia and then Giovanna too learned to embroider punt’e nù. From there came the idea to write this book which we hope will help to keep the interest in this traditional Sardinian embroidery alive.
