About the Author
Marion Shepherd was born in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky. In the small mountain community of Noble, Kentucky, life in general hadn't changed much since the turn of the century. Horse-drawn wagons and horses were still the primary means of transportation. Mr. Shepherd took in the wealth of the mountains and streams, and listened to the folk tales passed down through generations of hill folk. One such story was of what folks called, "a large ape" that roamed the mountains in the area. Mr. Shepherd's father had seen the "ape" and so had his aunt on his mother's side! Radio stirred his imagination. Frank Buck's, "Bring'Em Back Alive" and a host of adventure stories caught his interest in life's mysteries as no television program could. Mr. Shepherd made his own mental pictures, and this story is the result.
