From the Back Cover
"This generation's Vonnegut!"
- VINCENT W. SAKOWSKI
"Carlton Mellick III has the craziest book titles... and the kinkiest fans!"
- CHRISTOPHER MOORE
"Easily the craziest, weirdest, strangest, funniest, most obscene writer in America."
- GOTHIC MAGAZINE
"Mellick's imagination is boundless, and his writing truly shows this. His characters, plot, and writing style are original, enjoyable, and inspiring."
- LIONEL BIGSBY
"Mellick has definitely joined the ranks of the bizarre literary geniuses such as Burroughs, Philip K. Dick, and Vonnegut."
- CHARLES GLOVER
"Carlton Melick III exemplifies the intelligence and wit that lurks between its lurid covers. In a genre where crude titles are an art in themselves, Mellick is a true artist."
- THE GUARDIAN
"Just as Pop had Andy Warhol and Dada Tristan Tzara, the Bizarro movement has its very own P. T. Barnum-type practitioner. He's the mutton-chopped author of such books as Electric Jesus Corpse and The Menstruating Mall, the illustrator, editor, and instructor of all things Bizarro, and his name is Carlton Mellick III."

Carlton Mellick III is one to watch. I've read very few authors who can blend surreal landscapes, absurdly human characters, mile-a-minute philosophies and leave you reeling long after finishing the book. Not because of the more "upsetting" or "disturbing" qualities involved, but as a result of the product. Through the first three quarters of the novel I felt relatively safe in my enjoyment. But, without giving anything away, that quickly changed as I approached the inescapable conclusion. Again, without spoiling the novel, I have to say that with "Satan Burger", I haven't read as heartbreaking an ending as this in a long, long time. In fact, the nearest comparison I can think of would be the effect certain parts of Joseph Heller's "Catch-22" (a favorite of mine) had on me. Needless to say, "Satan Burger" (along with "The Egg Man" and Carlton Mellick III in general) has become a fast favorite of mine. This is a writer who should not be ignored.
Satan Burger is one of his earlier books and it is just so twisted you won't want to put it down and when its over you will be begging for more.
I could not stop reading this book. I kept my eyes stapled open to see how else Carlton Mellick could top his previous creative description about the world of Satan Burger. It engaged in ther very first page of the book. The main character Leaf is such a deep character that you wish you could know. I can relate to him a lot so maybe I am biased a bit, but he is very immersive.
At the first page i was drawn in by this line, "Our human race has been around for such a brief amount of time that the universe hasn't had the chance to detect us yet. One blink is all it needs to miss our dance through actuality." This caught me right away and gives a great one like summary of what the theme and story of this book represents. Throughout the book Carlton Mellick lll uses great language like this line to suck you into the world of Satan Burger
I would recommend this book to every soul I know, but only the souls with an open mind and appreciation for abstract thinking would appreciate it.
This was the first bizarro book I ever read. Not only did it get me hooked on the genre in general, but I have become a huge fan of Carlton Mellick. I love everything he has written, but I have to say that this is my favorite of all of his writings.
This book is just awesome! Read it already! I want to work at Satan Burger!
