If you haven't read Clovenhoof and Pigeonwings then do yourself a favor and check them out. Lots of laugh out loud moments and a deep thought or two... This collection of shorts really comes between the two novels and explains a few things. But mainly it's worth reading for the good laughs. Goody and Grant have made the Lord of the Underworld into an almost sympathetic character as he confronts the mortal world with just Lambrini, a sense of humor and two friends who are up for almost anything. Best of all, it's not preaching to you, just offering many laughs at this thing we call life.

Clovenhoof is a riot but the other two supporting characters are just allowing him to get away with everything. It would be better sometimes if they pushed him back and stood their ground from time to time...I don't know about anyone else but I would enjoy that a little bit more because I believe that would make for a better read, ijs!

While this collection of short stories comes third in the series, I recommend reading it directly after Clovenhoof. There are a few character developments that take place in Pigeonwings that are not represented here, so logically, I believe it comes before that one. For the most part, the stories focus on Clovenhoof's antics with Nerys and Ben. However, there are a couple that introduce new characters to the series, namely St. Christopher. Overall, it was a quick and fun read.

Buyer beware! Amazon made me describe the plot as "predictable", "some twists", or "full of surprises". They neglected "non-existent". There is no plot anywhere in the Clovenhoof series, just a random mish-mash of events, unconnected with anything. Instead of developing over time, the series just gets lost. If the first book was judged stand-alone, I would say that it was an amateurish effort but had some promise. In situ with the rest of the series I would say that whatever promise there might have been has become a broken promise. Don't waste your time. I will never get those hours back that I could have spent more enjoyably watching commercials back to back.

I found the stories funny and fun to read. No wonder Satan lost the battle if he's this inept.
I do wish that whoever proofed read this book did a better job at the transitions in the stories. Your at one place then the next paragraph your somewhere else with no break or anything to warn of a scene change. A little confusing at times.

I really enjoyed, as I have the two previous books. I do suggest though that this either be labeled as book 2 in the series or not be numbered at all. They are hilarious short stories that predate the second book. Though at first I was a bit confused because the stories were missing an essential character that was added in book two I quickly realized that this was just a sequencing error and thoroughly enjoyed. I am now anxiously awaiting the next book in the series!

Laugh out loud funny and highly entertaining, Heide Goody's British sense of humor is hilarious. This collection of short escapades loosely tie together and give a great insight into the clovenhoof series.

I just laugh and shake my head at this series. So irreverent and totally snort inducing laughter. I had to explain to a friend that I was laughing because Jeremy (aka Satan) stole a scooter to kill zombie snowmen. Who thinks up these things? Good job. Quirky kooky series. New one coming out soon.
