I purchased the Satechi ST-69BTS to replace a Logitech bluetooth speaker that had to be plugged in. I like to listen when showering and the Logitech was taking up too much real estate on the counter. The charge the Satechi holds allows me to go about two weeks listening at loud volume at about 15 minutes at a time.
I found the reviews on Amazon to be a little too praising of this speaker. It is a GOOD speaker but it's not a great speaker. I know there was a previous model, then Satechi didn't sell it for a while, later bringing back a redesigned version. I have the redesigned version and can't speak on the original design.
Volume is adequate but not overly loud. I have a very small bathroom and listen at full volume while in the shower. Sound is crisp and clear all the way to maximum with no distortion. Many reviews praise this speaker for it's bass which I don't understand. It is a small speaker and as would be expected, at least to me, has little to no bass. I even have it situated in a corner. No clue where people are getting the great bass opinions from. It doesn't have great bass when compared to a big speaker, it doesn't have great bass for a small speaker. It just doesn't have hardly any bass.
The bluetooth connects quickly and reconnects to the same device even after the speaker is powered off. The only problem is that it will ONLY connect to one device. If you pair it with a second device, you have to go back and re-pair the first device if you want to use it again. This caused a huge problem for me because I had my iPhone paired initially. I left my iPhone downstairs in the den, which is right below the bathroom. I then wanted to use my iPad with the device.

The people giving this high ratings cannot have tried other portable speakers first. This thing has horrible sound and does not go loud at all. I recently tried a bunch and this comes in at the bottom.

The rundown:

Just tried a bunch of these ranging from $20-$60:

HMDX jam bluetooth - third place - sounds awesome, it's the loudest of all tested as well. great bass and does not distort much even at the loudest volume. nice, solid weight. However a constant buzzing/fuzzy noise made this a no go. would be my second favorite if it didn't have the buzz. well priced at 35.

Satechi bluetooth audio cube - not loud at all, tinny sound, very little bass, sounds muffled. expected more from the large size of the unit(about 3.5*3.5") compared to others, and the positive reviews. looks cool. overpriced at 50 for sure.

Kinivo wired - not very loud but otherwise great sound. nice bass, clear highs. distorts a little at max volume. cool looking. great value at 20

Sharkk bluetooth - second place - a best buy at 27 bucks. sounds great, great bass, and not much distortion on max volume. not quite as loud as the jbl or hmdx. bland looking. Comparable volume to most of the others though.

JBL micro bluetooth - my favorite - first place. stylish, great volume, clear highs and good bass. Very user friendly and uses a manual volume dial so each time you turn it on it is at the previous volume. most reset to 50% every time you turn them off and back on. Bluetooth connectivity through walls is not quite as strong as others, the only con. Also can be used as a bluetooth adaptor/dongle which usually costs as much as this speaker alone. The 3.5mm out can plug into any home theater system.

I bought the ST-69BTS about a month ago and it has exceeded my expectations. Easy to pair, easy to use, very portable, louder than I expected (and I didn't expect a lot from a 3" cube), and stylish. The 2 speakers provide very good sound and I can feel the bass on the table. I like that it plays while being charged. Battery life is very good and quick charging. I bought this for company presentations so I could place the speaker any where in the room. I am typically in board rooms and this allows audio to be in the middle of the group for all to hear. So much better than my laptop speakers or having wires across the tabletop. I find myself using it all the time around the house and outside while grilling and socializing. Well worth the investment.

Read a review on endgadget regarding a phoenix speaker which is basically the same as this speaker except about $50 bucks more and in Red not black. Picked this satechi speaker up and Im amazed at the sound it puts out and distortion free. Easily synced to my Galaxy S3 and I'm listening to tunes on the deck as I type this. I would highly recommend this speaker if your in the market. Shipped from CA to the east coast in 3 days.

Also found this product via an Engadget review for a similar product. The reviews do not lie - I just got mine (paid for 2-day shipping) and it sounds fantastic! Plugged it in via USB to charge for 3 hours, but couldn't wait so I paired it with my iPhone 4S to test the sound while it was plugged into a USB 2.0 port and charging. Pairing was quick and simple. I had my iPhone 4S turned all the way up, and at first I was nervous because it didn't seem to get that loud, but then I turned up the volume via the rockers on the top of the Audio Cube and WOOOOOOOOAAAAHHHH!!!! This little 2-watt speaker truly gets loud enough to fill a 10x10 room easily! The bass was amazingly full for a speaker this size.

I would easily use this out at the pool and/or patio, BBQ'ing, etc - it simply sounds *THAT* good. It's LOUD!!! Don't get me wrong - it's slightly tinny and performs as a 2-watt speaker should, but what Satechi has obtained out of this little cube by tuning it is nothing short of astounding.

Will report back later regarding battery performance (whether it will meet the advertised 6 hours or not) and anything else, but I have to say for just $49 USD this thing is an impossibly great deal! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

UPDATE 10/20/2012 - unit failed. No longer charges. AVOID.

UPDATE 1/28/2013 - Satechi responded to my review and tech support request (please note the disparity of time between my initial failure report and my replacement was due to my procrastination in sending the failed unit in, not Satechi's excellent customer service). They issued an RMA and I shipped it to them. About 6 days after I verified receipt of my return, they had a replacement unit in my hands!
