I love the daily scripture readings, the "praying through the Psalms" sections, and the videos that are also recommended.
I could go on and on but I highly suggest this manual. It may very well be the best disciple-making/ teaching manual I have seen. It not only have key concepts to grasp but helps the leader/ group to process the info in a very approachable and clear way.
I might suggest also reading Sent by Brad Wilson as well as Called Together from the same publisher. You will notice all of these authors have somewhat of the same language/ methods/ theology and each book hits certain areas better than the other. This is the best "manual" though for taking a group through in my opinion for a number of reasons expressed above. It would also work as a manual for a 1on1 discipleship relationship though that is not ideal.
After further review, we will be going through this in September as a group. Since we a predominantly a group of people who are focused on reaching a college campus for Jesus, many of our group are leaving soon for summer. I look forward to the theological teaching, the very well written application (throughout the week application!... of both diverse areas of scripture and practical) actions), and the way this manual, used as a group, will spark new ideas and vision for what it looks like to make disciples who make disciples in the everyday stuff of our lives.
In this guide you’ll learn about gospel fluency, practices that cultivate community, living out our gospel identities through the many roles we have (i.e. parent role, singles, vocation etc), dethroning idols, holistic discipleship environments, and so much more. The best part about it is that it engages not merely the intellect but heart forming practices around who we are as the people of God grounded in the scandalous grace of God.
Buy this, contextualize it as necessary, and remember that even after 8 weeks go very slow and be extremely patient.

Perfect for anyone who wants to 'be disciples who make disciples.' This 8-week guide could be used as a individual study, however, I think it best...Read more
