This book was great! It had me laughing so hard. I loved the similies the author used. i think this is my favorite book by Karen Cantwell yet. I am so glad I took a chance on her first book and have since been able to enjoy the whole series.

Rustic Woods has never been the same since Barbara Marr first found monkeys in her yard, and now she's found a few dismembered male parts on the walking path behind her house. This time, instead of following her curiosity, Barbara wants nothing to do with solving the identity of the victim. Howard is still recovering from his accident at the end of the last installment, and Barbara is convinced she's in the early throws of menopause. When their best friend Colt goes missing, Barbara and Howard can't help but start an investigation into his disappearance.

After reading the previous installments of the Barbara Marr series, I was slightly disappointed in this book. I felt like it wasn't given as much attention to detail like the previous books, especially when it came to Barbara's character. The story was good, but I was irritated with Barbara's constant moodiness and how everything just fell into place for her. With a little bit more creativity, I would of given the book all five stars.

Karen delivered another great book. The Barbara Marr series gets better and better. I read the book in one day, and was sad to see it end. I love the pace and cleverness of the dialogue. Can't wait until the next book.

I loved every single previous book before this one. For some reason story was kind of boring and not really interesting. I didn't really care for this book. I just finished it last night and frankly I don't remember what was it about.

I somehow forgot to write this review until now, several days after actually reading and reviewing the next book after this one. I loved this book, but it was a crazy fun plot. The characters are fun. I won't bore you with a plot summary as I know other reviewers are fond of doing that. The exception I will make in this instance is that even though it is actually a misunderstanding in the book, there is talk about wife swapping and swinging, so some people might not want their sheltered children to read about it. I appreciate that this book has chapter demarcations. Chapter demarcations make it so much easier to see how close you are to the end of a chapter or to find a stopping place when you need to do so. If you liked the previous books in the series, I say you should give this one a shot because I don't think you will be disappointed. Have at it!

I just recently *discovered* Karen Cantwell's Barbara Marr series, and I was hooked just because of her clever titles ~ and the books following these titles did not disappoint. In *Saturday Night Cleaver,* Colt is missing, and Barb and Howard find their lives barren (he-he!) without him. For once, they work together from the very beginning instead of having their separate paths mesh somewhere mid-book. Besides the amazing blend of suspense and humor, Karen Cantwell allows her characters to grow and evolve instead of trotting out the same old same-old each time. Cantwell herself is evolving into a superlative writer with a real gift for storytelling, false leads, and plot twists. I absolutely loved the *Cagney and Lacey* scene at the end of the book and Barb's epiphany about her mama. I was also pleased to note a bit of foreshadowing for another Barbara Marr book in the future. Write fast, Karen! :) ♥

I enjoyed the book but not as much as the two others by the author that I have read; nevertheless, I would expect most readers who have followed this series will read it with pleasure. Following a series by an author with whose characters one has become involved is much different than reading without fixing on particular writers with whose work one feels comfortable. That has been true of me, at any rate. When the works of Rex Stout (Nero Wolfe), the two cousins who were Ellery Queen, Richard and Frances Lockridge (Mr. and Mrs. North and the two major offsprings of that series) and others of that era and today (Kaminsky and Company), some books I liked more than others, but I would still look to read all of them because I had become attached to the style and the characters with their distinctive ways. I have not yet reached that point with Karen Cantwell but I see from the reviews that others have. I would surely recommend the book for these fans and incipient fans (myself included). For others who have not read anything by the author, I would give a conditional recommendation: not everyone is going to take to this middle aged woman with former FBI husband, their children and their respective mothers who have a role to play in this book. The latter can give her a trial with this book, in which she is more than a little cantankerous at the fact that Age 50 is looming within the year. If you like this one, you are very likely going to like its predecessors. ( I have the succeeding volume in the series but have not gotten to it yet.)

Barbara Marr returns in yet another frolic of her usual misadventures into crime solving with Saturday Night Cleaver (A Barbara Marr Murder Mystery #4). There's something for everyone with mystery, murder, and mayhem, auto chases and crashes, thrills and suspense, all nicely mixed with unwavering love and devotion to family and friends, while neatly wrapped in great humor. It is always a pleasure to follow along with Barbara Marr's life as super sleuth, so perfectly written by Karen Cantwell, super author.
