I am giving the shoe 5 stars because the above description is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a reliable shoe with ungodly long tread longevity (500-600 miles), and proper cushioning for my 10 miler on the weekends. I have several totally different shoes that I rotate depending on the workout. The Saucony Freedom ISO 2 is definitely going in the rotation. I highly recommend this shoe, especially for your long tempo run on the weekends.
I was looking for a shoe with great cushioning and one that was produced in a size 15. I tried several including a couple of styles of Hokas The hokas had exceptional cushioning, but they run too narrow and were quite uncomfortable across the width of my foot. In addition to the fit issue....they are simply too expensive for me to consider. I just can’t justify spending that kind of money on sneakers.
So the search continued. Eventually I landed on the Saucony iSO Freedom 2. The reviews that it got were all extremely high on the cushioning. I was quite dubious about these claims because the shoe doesn’t look like it would be very cushy at all. The sole is not even a little bit thick...how could it possibly feel as soft as the reviews are reporting?
I ordered it to try it out because the price was right....and because of Amazon’s return policy... I fully anticipated returning them. I wore them around the house for about 6-8 hrs over a few days before they broke in and became exceedingly cushy and comfortable. Once they were broken in, they were so much more comfortable than any sneaker I had ever worn before. The cushioning the reviewers all spoke about was absolutely true. GREAT CUSHIONING!
Now that I have had them for about 6 weeks, I have noticed that for wearing around the house, in the neighborhood and running on dry streets they are exceedingly comfortable. There are two places where they fall down. On wet surfaces they are extraordinarily slick. This includes streets and wet floors in the house. ...even after a short burst of Fabreeze in the bathroom, the tile floor becomes super slick when you are wearing the ISO Freedom 2. The sole is definitely not made for wet conditions. The other thing I noticed was that on uneven surfaces (rocky hillsides, boulder fields...)and any other situation where your foot is not flat on a surface, they lack lateral support. The shoe does not hold your foot and prevent it from sliding sideways.
Overall, I am very pleased with the shoe and find it even more comfortable than going around the house barefoot. I am so pleased, that I ordered a pair for my wife and will be ordering another pair for myself just to store away until the current pair wear out.
The one star off is for the slick sole in wet conditions.

Plus side is they were pretty comfortable, it would just appear the pair I purchased had a weak build quality.
