From the manufacturer
Shoes with a 4mm heel-to-toe offset deliver a more natural ride, letting your feet and body do more work while relying less on the shoes’ cushioning and stability features.
High traction outsoles, protective overlays and rugged construction take the performance of our RunAnyWhere line to the next level. This is what happens when real runners make trail shoes.
A breakthrough in cushioning. Livelier and more responsive, with smoother landings and stronger takeoff.
Tacky, durable rubber providing exceptional traction and abrasion resistance.
Peregrine 7 Infograph
The underfoot feel and amount of impact protection provided by the compressing materials between the foot and running surface.
The level of pronation control built into the shoe. Pronation is the inward rolling of the ankle through the gait cycle.
The difference in height between the heel thickness and forefoot thickness of the shoe.
Fear no trail in the peregrine 7. Setting the pace for off-road versatility, the peregrine 7 is adaptable across any terrain courtesy of the ultra-grippy pwrtrc outsole. Across the upper, a TPU exo-skeleton secures the foot and provides added protection, while the full-length Everun top ole cushions every foot strike with a resilient, energized ride.

Update: These were incredible in the Spartan Super, except, and I am hoping this is a one time fluke. In about mile 2 or 3 (race was little less than 9 miles) the rubber on the toe started pulling away. Not a problem in my race, but unacceptable this early in their life. I exchanged them effortlessly (thank you Amazon!) and we will see if these hold up. But the grip and traction thru mud, water, and mountain climbs were great. See pic of toe problem...
Now with Saucony's Everun material, these have a thicker sole than the Peregrine 4s, which is not necessary for me, but it's fine. These are super STICKY, substantial lugs to dig into muck, and a REAL rock plate like my old shoes, so I can still feel the ground, but NOT individual stones. A bit narrower in the toe box than other Saucony's of old, so a bit tight but workable. After 2 rugged miles on dirt, boulders, and small stones, up, down, sideways....feet, ankles, knees felt fine.
As for looks, they are a very nice shade of turquoise blue, with just a touch of violet, so I'm happy. (My old Peregrine 4s were a vivid teal blue). I have checked out other iterations of the Peregrine--5, 6, 8 even, but they are either uncomfortable for me, or I find them too ugly to bear looking at every day.
Women's size 8 (peregrine 6) fit beautifully. Women's size 8 (peregrine 7) was too tight..
Peregrine 6 gets 4 stars. Peregrine 7 a definite 2 star.
Otherwise good traction for rocky terrain.
Otherwise, I love the grippy outsole of Saucony trail shoes; they are the best I've experienced for running on all kinds of trails as well as on ice and snow. I hardly ever needed my Yaktrax last winter when running in the Xodus shoes.
