Savage is fast-paced, well written and really holds the reader's interest. I am writing this review to warn about the content. This is about a boy, Reigh, who feels he's not smart (says it repeatedly) and a screw-up. But, he has a demon who follows him around and when Reigh gets into trouble he can summon the demon and the demon destroys all his enemies. The demon, who calls himself the harbinger of death, makes it clear that Reigh is his master to command and he'll fulfill what Reigh wishes. Huh? Summoning a demon who will do what you command?
Then he's contacted by Clysiros, who says, "You are my chosen one...My harbinger. Soon you will carry the staff of my judgment and all will bow before it... I am your master. "(!!!) She also says, " But first you must complete a ritual. You must find the crystal, harbinger, and give an offering of pure blood."
Ok, so she wants a ritual with a blood offering. Umm, isn't that satanic/luciferian/something-really-bad?
Can you imagine a teenager who thinks they are a screw-up, different from everyone else, and not smart, reading this book and wishing they had a demon they could summon? And do the bidding of a "master" who contacts them?
Some people who are reading this might dismiss it as silly and not connected with anything satanic at all. I wouldn't be spending time writing this review if I thought it was silly. Please make a gate in front of your mind and only let in that which is good and uplifting. Don't let this satanic nonsense into your mind! As a person who has over 700 books on her kindle, most of which are young adult, I can assure you that there are loads and loads of fantastic books out there that are exciting, thrilling, and which also bring you joy.
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I loved this book, and I bought my own copy! I own the series before this book too!
This is the first book in this new series that is a spin-off of the Dragonrider Chronicles! This is a YA book! Okay I loved this book because it went back to Nicole’s original style! It does end leaving you wanting more! I need the next book like NOW!
This book is about Reigh who is a human teen who has always lived in a Grey Elf city. Kiran from the first series raised him. He doesn’t know who he is, or what the deal is with his power. There is so much action and mystery going on that you get pulled right into the story, and I found it hard to put the book down! I can’t wait for book 2, and to see how things go and what destiny has in store for Reigh!!
I highly recommend to any Dragonrider fans who loved the first 3 books because you will enjoy this book! If you are new to Nicole’s work, I would read the first series, and then start this one afterward!
But . . . Would someone please get her a Thesaurus! There are many other words to describe a facial expression other than "smirk." If she could just learn and use some of them. PLEASE!
I got more to say but it been awhile since I read this book, so I kinda forgot.
I want the female dragon he bonded to to be mates with him or at least never take another and never leave each other side.

As usual great characters and the lead is more interesting this time round. Less focus on the dragons which is a pity but made way for a darker story that is easy reading.
If you like fantasy you can't go wrong with any of Conways work.
