Then Clint comes along, a teddy bear of a man who wears his heart on his sleeve. Becky is very tempted to trust him, her first husband being an abusive, controlling jerk. Becky is well on her way to loving Clint when her world turns upside down. It turns out this gentle giant is the Dirty Harry of the wolf council. He is an enforcer, charged with eliminating rogue shifters. His charge is known only by his alpha, Rob. When Becky finds out before he has a chance to tell her, she freaks out. Here the great Mama Tucker comes to the rescue. Using food and logic, she manages to get Becky to see it from the shifters' point of view. He's very much like a sniper in the military, doing his job. Why hadn't he told her? Mama answered, "Men are dumb as a box of rocks!" when it comes to explaining things to their women.
What I loved about this story was that unlike the Wolf brothers, Clint was a gentle lover, always having Becky's welfare in mind. No punishment spankings or crazy macho declarations are seen or heard, although Clint is all man. It was refreshing and tender, yet another side to these ladies' great writing skills. Great birthing scene finds Clint super funny, protective, and supporting. You'll love this book! It's a fresh take on men who aren't afraid to be gentle and how deserving they are of love and trust. I loved it!
They just had 2 baggage issues. Her ex husband and the angry cousin of someone that was out of control whom Clinton had to deal with.
I liked this story. It was a quick and easy read, hot and steamy and some relationship angst.
I would definitely recommend this story as well as the whole series.
Becky left her emotionally abusive husband 2 years ago after he got physical. She filed a restraining order and filed for divorce. Todd won't sign. He finds was to harass, and drain her finances.
Clint is determined to protect her and their pup. Becky wants to be wanted for her.
Client's job as a council enforcer has put her in danger. She learns his secret in a violent and bloody way. He fears he has lost his little family. Becky is hurt by learning the people who she calls friends have been keeping secrets.A
The pack protects their own. Clint's little brother calls in the big guns for help, their mom, Janet.
A sweet and steamy shifter romance. Light BDSM, and spanking. A nice epilogue to wrap up their story. A cute slice of life bonus epilogue , Clint and Boyd being daddies. Can't wait for the next book. Really hoping Shelby gets a story and finds her true mate or two.
I liked the character of Becky. She has been hurt in the past and is still living with the fallout. She is a woman with a lot on her plate and just wanted one night out with some friends. She got a little bit more. The chemistry between Clint and Becky was off the charts. Becky was written as a strong independent woman who has been on her own fighting how own battles for too long.
Clint made this book for me. I loved that he was alpha in nature but he was also quiet, kind, even tempered and gentlemanly. He is protective by nature and cares about his family and friends. I loved reading about his wrestling with his "other" job and how that could impact everyone he loves.
I thought the concept of how Clint didn't know Becky was his mate was clever. This was a new take and I really enjoyed it.
