I read 3 and 4 in this series first ....hmmm not the right order but didn’t realize the were part of a series ...just delightful Christmas reads. S Blues has Lots of delightful characters ...even the bad guys were interesting , clever characters . If you have read any of my reviews, you know how I am about getting to know the people and animals ! If antiques , plantations , low country cooking and a murder snuck in you’ll like this book .

I read a lot of mysteries. And I love the breezy beach type ones. But this just isn't a mystery. The mystery "plot" feel like it was thrown as an afterthought so that it would fit into a category. The plot, well, is just so full of holes that I can't even think of a cliché that would cover it. The story is really about a young whose husband has left her for another woman and her efforts to obtain a specific, valuable antique cabinet. Is that realistic? I have no idea. But I do know mysteries, and this isn't one.

Such a delightful book that has it all--antiques, Savannah charm, a murder, a love affair, humor, likeable characters--really everything. It's a light read that's mostly fun. I read it back when it first came out, remembered it fondly and read it again. My only criticism would be Daniel's inability to think of anything besides sex, but since he's handsome and a great chef, he's forgiven. And of course there's Weezie's blundering into every awkward situation out there, but that makes the story. It's a favorite for me in the light reading category.

If you enjoy a Southern book with lots of humor, you will enjoy "Savannah Blues!" Mary Kay Andrews has a wonderful and witty way of writing about Southern Ladies. It is about divorce, revenge and great antiques which I am sure is written with lots of wit and humor. The first book I read was called "Hissy Fit" which was hysterically funny and immediately won me over!!

I met Mary Kay Andrews at a book signing in Savannah recently. I have a thing for getting signed books from authors. I knew she wrote books mostly women enjoy, but this one was a fun read! Great story and spot on for Savannah folk!

As always, I once again have thoroughly enjoyed a book by Mary Kay Andrews. Whenever she has a new book released, it becomes a must read immediately. The environment of southern charm and hospitality spark to life in all her books. Her fun-loving and sometimes fiendishly evil characters become part of your neighborhood and are your friends and your foes as they come alive in each turn of a page.
Savannah Blues makes you want to immerse yourself in the hot and muggy Savannah and experience the town, the people, the food, and the old plantation homes. Weezie is a high-spirited, funky antique picker and who wouldn't want to go exploring with her? Intrigue around every corner and cabinet...oh, and don't forget her cheating ex, her sexy new beau, and of course her loving and maniacal family members.
Great books to read on the beach, by the pool, or while on vacation. I never get bored reading any of Ms. Andrews books and can't wait for her new book coming out June 2013: "Ladies Night".

To say I love Mary Kay Andrews is a total understatement. I own all of her books and actually got to meet her in the Grove at Ole Miss. I love her even if she is a GA Bulldog fan! (Hah) BeBe and Weezie were my favorite characters, however. If you like this one, try “Savannah Breeze,” “Christmas Bliss,” amd “Blue Christmas.” You will fall in love with BeBe and Weezie just like I did!!

SAVANNAH BLUES is the second book that I have read by author Mary Kay Andrews, the other being HISSY FIT. I finished each of these novels feeling that I wanted to move to Georgia immediately, so vividly does Andrews create a sense of place.
Can this woman ever write! The story just flies, with fun on every page. It is not merely the plot--which is excellent--but also the prose that makes Andrews' work such a treat.
In addition, the author clearly knows her antiques, and anybody reading one of her tales will come away with a painless education in the decorative arts as a bonus to a damn good yarn.
As I am coming to expect from Andrews, SAVANNAH BLUES has as many layers as an onion, with subplots regarding ecological and historic preservation, alcoholism and even restaurant management.
The characters are vivid, the dialogue sparkles. The author is a woman with amazing powers of observation and insight, and a swell way with a turn of phrase.
Now, I'm off to read her LITTLE BITTY LIES. Can't wait!

Southern USA charm and humour
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on March 27, 2012Verified Purchase
I wanted to try something a bit different to read and also a book that was entertaining without being a crime novel or too silly. This story by Mary Kay Andrews was a good choice. It's set in Georgia, deep south USA. Not a place I know at all. I loved it and I loved the main character, and her friends. She is feisty and full of character. As "wheezie" (Louisa) is really into second hand and antique furniture and houses, the book is full of details on these. She has a gay ex-priest uncle who is a lawyer and his helped is needed, as Wheezie tends to act first and think second when it comes to following up her passion for antiques. when trying to reccy an empty house that is going to an estate sale she finds a dead body and is arrested. The pace of the story is fast but not furious and is not at all boring. recommended.

What a great read !

Eloise "Weezie" Foley, the heroine of this book suffers from the injustice of her divorce settlement. Her philandering ex-husband left her nearly nothing, apart form the former carriage house which is unfortunately on the same premises where he now lives with his new girlfriend. Her Ex got the main house, that Weezie had renovated and had put not only her labour in, but also her heart.Furthermore she has to face the "happy" couple every day and is struggling to make a living as a antiques "picker", searching for discarded treasures in dumpsters and at estate sales.
Quite an explosive mixture and its not really a surprise, when the girlfriend turns up dead...
This book was real page-turner! So hilarious and with that special sense of humor that the author also shows in her Julia Callahan Garrity-Series,written under the name of "Kathy Hogan Trochek".
I laughed out loud several times and it was great fun.
Weezie and her friends/family are very likeable and the story is enthralling, with the right amount of suspense.
Can't wait to read more !!!

AN EXCELLENT READ!
Reviewed in Canada on January 23, 2011Verified Purchase
Not as good as Danielle Steele, but a excellent read! The continuity of the different strands of the plot is well managed. You develop over time a close relationship to her recurring characters, which are common to three of her novels; so it is hard to put down in the end. Let's hope the author returns to these same characters in future efforts and develops some of them to a greater extent (such as Bebe, a particularly interesting character)
