Don't buy this expecting to start a professional Ukulele band but do buy it if you are curious about the instrument. You'll be able to play enough to decide if you want to go further or not.
My only complaint would be that the action is weak the further you travel down the neck and the nice sound disappears.
The ukulele itself is good quality for the price. The strings, however, are like a toy's. If you want to actually play this ukulele, then order strings of better quality! It will improve it so much!
In all, the ukulele is pretty good. The color is nice and it looks good when you take it out of the bag. It's shiny unlike the picture, but it's not tacky looking. It's more glossy.
I liked the fact that they included a book (more like a folded paper) of starter chords so that beginners can start playing easily, as I'm giving this as a gift to someone who doesn't know how to play (yet).
Overall, this is a good instrument, but just buy your own strings.
I can, however, tell you that this has been a big hit here at our place. We have one guitar in the house that our two kids constantly fight over. This Ukulele is/was for our 2-year-old to call his own and rock out on with his big brother. But it seems I should have bought a second Ukulele for my husband as well, he has been playing with it more than the 2-year-old!
For as much action as it has received, it is very durable. Curious kids twist and turn the knobs more so than they should... my husband is constantly "tuning" it (he's not musically inclined either)... and it has suffered a few drops already without any noticeable damage. This is definitely serving its purpose here at our home.

The first of my (now 4) ukuleles. For helping me begin, this was the perfect product. Although it is cheap and doesn't have a full sound, if you need to start, BUY THIS. Read morePublished 13 months ago by Devante Lucas
Base part where the strings hook into came off while tuning, could never use. Looks nice though.Published 14 months ago by Michael
Great. Only the bridge broke off in two days. I had to sand and repaint. Gorilla glue and clamp. Still working...but the christmas present had to be fixed :(Published 16 months ago by rahonda1

This ukulele was received in the advertised condition as stated yet it looked cheap and not well crafted. Parts came un-glued, we re-glued and it broke yet again. Read morePublished on March 25, 2014 by Stacey C
It is a nice instrument in new condition. The pegs are loose and I have to keep tuning it but I can easily fix that with peg dope.Published on June 7, 2013 by Michelle
