I have been waiting (impatiently) for Collin’s story after she caught my attention in Trivial Pursuits! Collins has just gone through a rough break-up and Luca has just been called up to the Chicago Buffaloes. I loved watching Collins and Luca get to know each other, conquer their pasts, and inspire one another to pursue their passions in proper balance.
And in true Aven fashion, we get a peek at Aubrey, Beckett, Livy, and Landon! It truly is like visiting with old friends!
I’m already on edge waiting (impatiently) for Chicago on Ice book 4! My mind is swimming with possibilities as to who could star in book 4!
Collins is unsatisfied with her life but doing what she thinks her family wants her to. She's good at it so why not just keep going on existing in a life that has no fulfillment for her.
In walks Luca, who challenges everything she is and encourages her to go for what she wants. Trouble is....Collins wants Luca, for ever and always.
One click this book if you love hockey, real love. From their first meeting, I couldn't wait for their HEA. I enjoyed every page of this book as I watched them fall in love, with some rough roads along the way. I HIGHLY recommend this book and all of this author's other books. She is an amazingly gifted writer, who has a unique style of her own. You will love it!
Collins and Luca are both a little hesitant for love. Both for their own reasons. But Luca has been a little smitten since he first saw her picture. So when he has the opportunity to introduce himself at a party Collins planned he takes it. What follows is the journey of two people falling in love and learning to trust their hearts.
If you haven't picked up a book by this author I would highly recommend you give them a try.
Collins Brady is an event planner, but her true passion is working with horses. Luca Ballerini, the rookie goalie for the Chicago Buffaloes, has had more of a relationship with hockey than he has with women. They meet at a party and their romantic chemistry is off the charts. Luca requires lots of prep time for his goaltender position and Collins begins to feel neglected. Can their new relationship survive?
Collins is one of my favorite Aven heroines to date. She is a strong, independent woman who never gives up on her dream of being a riding instructor. Her mother raised her to avoid unpleasant feelings so she wears an emotional mask to hide how she feels. But Luca is her perfect match since he wears a mask too.
Aven is able to write swoon-worthy love interests in every book she has published. Luca is the newest addition to that list. He fully supports Collins' dreams. He sketches in his spare time. He just needs to find the right balance between Collins and hockey.
This book made me laugh out loud. Nana is back and even more hilarious. She still loves her whiskey and is as feisty as ever.
I love love LOVE Aven's books and cannot wait to read her next one!
1). I love that Collins has a perceived "disfigurement." I use quote marks because being freckled isn't really a disfigurement, but people do not always see the beauty of freckled skin. Luca sees past her freckles and loves her for them. That is wonderful. In this day in age, you see people being made fun of for things like scars, acne and freckles, so it was lovely to see a hero embracing a heroine for an unwanted quality and loving her all the more for it.
2). I loved Collins' job! Aven always finds unique perspectives, and I loved the fact that she was able to create such fun antics, tomfoolery, and shenanigans in the name of event planning.
1). While I love all of Aven's books, she writes so many series at once, that it is hard for me to keep everyone straight. I had to go back and reread the other books in the series so I could remember the back stories of the the secondary characters. While this is a standalone novel and can be read as such, it is more enjoyable for me if I can relate this story to the others in the series without having to re-read all the books before reading the new one.
2). Sometimes Collins' response to situations seemed a little juvenile. I got annoyed with her because of this.
All in all, this is a wonderful book where the Pros way out weigh the Cons. Pick it up.... give it a shot. You won't regret it!!!!
