Save Me: Love in the Pacific Northwest Book 1 Kindle Edition
Danger brought them together. Safety tore them apart. Can one act of recklessness reunite them forever?
Against protocol and my best intentions, I fell in love with the key witness I was assigned to protect. I know. Rookie move, Jamie.
I guess I’m just a soft touch for beautiful, scared men who hide behind prickly sass and razor-sharp snark. With a little kindness and a lot of patience, I got to know the generous, caring man underneath all those barbs.
But it took everything I had to keep things professional.
In the end, none of that mattered, because I still had to let him go — and it would have been infinitely worse if he knew how I felt. Not that things are much better now, because a year later, with no hope of ever seeing him again, I still can’t forget him.
Testifying against your best friend’s father for conducting illegal drug trials is one thing. Falling for the handsome deputy marshal assigned to protect you? Utter humiliation.
I was a walking cliche, all heart eyes and swooning. As if a decent, honorable man like Jamie MacDougall would have been interested in someone as damaged as me.
Thankfully, before I could mortify myself further by telling him how I feel, the trial ended, and I entered the WITSEC program with a new identity and a new life — far away from the sexy deputy marshal who still holds my heart.
But justice has some nasty side effects, and now, 12 months later, guilt and loyalty are forcing me back to the last place I should be — Seattle.
And with my past hot on my heels, there’s only one person I trust to keep me safe…
Save Me is a 60,000 word Forced-Proximity, Second-Chance Romance with a bit of snark, a dash of sweet, and a lot of spice. There is no cheating, and a guaranteed Happily Ever After

Ashley Pandy is a brilliant scientist but his testimony will land him in WITSEC with Deputy Marshal Jamie (Seumas) MacDougall as his protector until then. Knowing that Ash is 37yo makes me think that Jamie is about that age too. Their backgrounds couldn’t be much different. One was disowned when he came out and the other was deeply loved regardless. Together they will make a great couple but first they have to get past their taboo situation and then maybe the fact that someone wants to kill Ash for bearing witness against their illegal operation. Jamie’s parents and siblings are great. Ash’s friend Oliver plays a small but highly sensitive part in the book. There were several OMG moments in the book: opening the wine at the cabin; special dinner Jamie arranges for Ash; their first time and more.
Although at times it felt like there was going to be a cliffhanger, the epilogue tied up many loose ends, giving the reader a very satisfying HEA. Overall, I loved this M/M romance with limited but explicit scenes between our characters and give it 4.5 beautiful and passionate stars. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Gay Romance Reviews.
First, the book is incredibly well-written. The pacing is solid, the words flow, and the descriptions are on point. I enjoyed the switching perspectives so we could feel what each character was going through and helped us really get to know them as people. I thought the chemistry between Jamie and Ash was apparent from the first few pages and the sexual tension was killing me! These two were so clearly head over heels for each other, they just needed to get out of their own heads for a minute to realize it. The heat between the two was incredible and the payoff when they finally - FINALLY - acknowledged it was well worth the wait. I also enjoyed the two subplots/secondary characters involved in the story, with Jamie's family and Ash's best friend. While obviously part of the overall plot, some books don't take the time to develop these portions into their own entities, and that's not the case here. I was actually in tears by the end of the book.
Overall, I'm so happy this book ended with the happy ending we were all hoping for, and I'm really looking forward to reading more books by this author!
This is no run-of-the mill WITSEC story. Ash is in WITSEC but breaks cover, ( with good intentions, but bad consequences). He reaches out to the one person he can trust, Jamie, an officer formerly assigned to Ash. From the moment they get together, it's action, suspense, with humour, UST, steam and a very satisfying HEA.
Jon Curtis was really good with the narration. I loved the way he portrayed Ash - seemingly high maintenance, at first, but a really good person. Jamie sounded like the guy who would have your back - always. All of the other characters had distinct voices. Mr. Curtis made this a great listen. Definitely recommend!
This book has so many moments that had me laughing, crying, and looking over my shoulder to make sure no one could see me blush. Seriously, the chemistry between these two is top-notch. Their backgrounds may be vastly different, but when Ash has nowhere else to turn, Jamie is there to help and their dance to romance is heart melting, to say the least!
I will definitely be adding this to my re-read list.

Jamie was everything you'd want in a law enforcement officer, a Deputy Marshall will morals, gorgeous and a loving family.
Perhaps a bit too much of a good thing and that's one of my niggles about the plot.
It's not just that it's outcome is highly improbable, but that Jamie's behaviour is just all too perfect throughout.
Ash on the other hand, while he's also amazing good looking, highly intelligent, speaks half a dozen languages etc, he's also harder to like as he doesn't have the job role White Knight card to play.
He's prickly, we're told he was a bit of a d*ck to the other officers in his protection detail.
We get to see him be impulsive, he takes a ridiculously dangerous risk - twice - and I know why he's the way he is and there are deeply emotional reasons for his behaviour, but I found I was occasionally more irritated by him that sympathising.
There were other ways he could have dealt with the situation which arises.
I won't spoil that, only to say, there should have been a trigger warning for it in the blurb.
However, that's the bits that annoyed me out if the way. The rest is a well-written narrative with strong sense of setting and an obvious attraction between the two men.
It's slow burn with some delightful UST and I will definitely give the author credit for not having them get down and dirty at inopportune moments when they were still in danger.
There's some great dialogue too, not too much internal monologues and the on page sexy time is rather delicious.
The Epilogue goes some way to closing a few threads left dangling too.
I mostly read this one because the second book in the series definitely caught my eye and for a debut, this was a very solid story.
