Update: I've now watched this movie 3 times in 2 days! People commenting that the end was bad really missed the mark. The ending was really the only path the story could have taken without getting really dark and the point to the arc of the story was the enduring nature of their relationship. Great little indie!

Loved this movie. It was very very funny, excellent writing, acting and a very clever premise. It's about Su and Jack, a sweet Brooklyn couple who want to unplug and get out of NYC to escape to a cabin upstate. Then comes the alien invasion! They are not people equipped to deal with an emergency. As they say, they don't have any skills. Through a lot of bumbling (funny though) and a little bit of luck they muddle through. I won't give anything more away but this is a sweet little movie with some good messages about humanity in general and human connectivity in specific. I really loved the characters and there was a minimal amount of hand held camera (thank you director!). Highly recommend you give this one a watch.

Maybe Millennials aren't going to like this movie since its depiction of them isn't very flattering. A couple of self absorbed, whining, twits go off for a week of introspection and connection to a secluded cabin. Meanwhile aliens invade and the two of them make some interesting observations about themselves. I won't give out spoilers, but the female lead sums up urban, chic Millennials in one sentence. I particularly liked their discussion about guns when aliens attack. The humor is wry and satirical and not everyone's cup of tea, but all in all the movie holds interest, makes some critical observations, and succeeds until the very end when it seems like the writer had to end it somehow.

Very great movie! Thrilling, funny, great plot. Sound like perfect, right? Well... almost. The ending leaves tons of gaps. It ends at such a random point that I literally thought it was a fake credit scene and the movie would pop back on saying, “Just kidding! You didn’t think we’d leave it like they did you?” Well they did! If you’re someone who needs a satisfying ending that completes the whole movie and wraps it up nicely, DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE!, but if you’re fine with being completely confused and suspenseful at the end of the movie, then you will love this movie!
To sum up my review, great movie right up until the ending. The only other thing is that I wouldn’t rate it R, it was more PG-13. Anyways, enjoy!

This film is just what 2020 ordered. Not only is it very much-needed comic relief from an absolutely horrifying reality, but the film touches on our humanity in a way that has never been more relevant. We all know that existential tug to put our phones down and unplug from everything for a while. But what happens when that toxic piece of technology is the one thing that could save you from an apocalypse? We've gotten comfortable as a society with food delivery, entertainment on demand, and everything we could possible want at our finger tips. But what happens when we need to depend on our skills to survive? Are you prepared to save yourselves?

This film is quick witted, funny as hell, and really gets you thinking about the ways in which the human race handles a crisis. As for whether, ultimately, technology is crucial or a crutch... I'll leave that up to you to decide at the end of this film.

The plot of this movie is, a couple would go to a cabin and go off line off a week. No cell phones etc. OK not a bad idea. The problem is there is virtually no worthwhile plot after they get to the cabin. When the "aliens" arrive, they look like a small, puffy, ball of fur that shoot out a thing that looks like a long piece of bubble gum. Sort of like an enlarged "tribble" from the original Star Trek. The couple then proceed to run away from them, and get sucked into this glasslike structure and go up in the air. THE END. What annoys me is that there are a lot of crappy movies on Amazon Prime for "free". Prime costs $119 per year. So they send you this email recommendation giving this crappy movie 4 stars, and charge you another $5.99 to see it. Do they really need to BS you, give this movie 4 stars. and suck another $5.99 out of us???? I want my money back!!!

stupidity, not comedy

I love comedies. This movie is not one. It's two people too stupid to live while walking from the fridge to the living room. Maybe some people like that kind of humor. I'm not one of them. Su and Jack are typical yupsters in NYC living with their faces glued to the tiny screens. When they decide to take a vacation week to go offline, the world is invaded by little aliens their high intellect can't discern a name for beyond "pouff." It has your typical end of world scenarios. Frankly, if I came across them I'd take them into my group as cannon fodder. They don't deserve to procreate or waste resources like food and water. The end made no sense - it's like the writers ran out of pot or came off the acid trip and just wrote THE END on the page.

The sci-fi special effects are campy but OK for the low budget; it was very funny to see Star Trek Tribbles all grown up and moody. The acting is riveting, and the way the co-writers/directors nailed New York moderns and their anxieties and fads is terrific; they must have observed all these foibles in their city friends (now likely former friends, they way they're depicted). Very smart use of close-ups; the female lead, Sunita Mani, has the sort of extraordinarily expressive face and voice that can carry a scene, and John Reynolds was very good as her partner. The co-writers/co-directors probably should have killed the characters off near the end, because the ending, alas, is both weak and infected with aspiring-for-a-sequel disease. But despite the ending, the movie was well worth watching.
