Our main character is the positive, yet at times bewildered, Chrissie Lambert, self-described PR professional and normally the “queen of cool.” Until she comes home early from work and discovers her husband…
Well, you’ll have to read the book to find out what causes their marriage to collapse.
At the same time her marriage has crumbled, Chrissie also loses her job. It’s hard to lose your dreams at age 35. But Chrissie lands on her feet and becomes the publicist for a D-lister. In the process, Chrissie transforms Kahlua the celebutante to Gia the savvy business pro. Chrissie also manages to learn more about herself, as she and Kia embark on zany trips to a California retreat and a desert event, Earth and Fire, reminiscent of Burning Man. There are many comic moments as this duo does their best to make sure everything ends happily ever after.
This book features wit and charm: She cracks a tiny smile. “Do you get all your advice from movies?”
“And sitcoms,” I confirm.
And it also gives readers some interesting interpretations of life: “But aren’t we all dealing with demons? I think. We just deal with them in different ways.”
“Have you ever seen Tibetan monks make a sand mandala? It takes them weeks to create it, yet they dismantle it in seconds. They don’t think it’s pointless. To them, it’s a lesson of appreciating the transient nature of life.”
All in all, this is a marvelous read- indulge in this treat of a book.
I won this book as part of a giveaway and I am so happy I did!
Do it :)
This fun-filled book will have you furiously flipping through the pages of Chrissie's slap-stick antics as she leaves her San Francisco home and travels to LA, only to find herself at the Earth & Fire (think Burning Man) festival in the middle of the Nevada desert.
I pretty much guarantee you'll be asking yourself if you want to be a fly on the wall (or tent - haha!) or not during at least one scene. My curious nature has me answering yes and then cringing at what I might see!
