Patty is an author and she is being hounded by her editor to get started on her next bestselling book. She decides to go to her father's lake house to get in the zone. With a meddling mother and overprotective father, it's easier said than done. Her mother sends her maid/cook and her father secretly asks the neighbors to keep her safe.
Carter's Dad has asked him for a huge favor. Go stay at the lake house and watch out for the girl next door. Carter recently received a medical discharge from the Army and he is in a funk. He has no idea what he wants to do with his life but he does know that he doesn't want to babysit some rich snobby girl, even though she's not to know he's there. But no way will he say no to his Dad.
Once he sees Patty, everything changes.
I love that this book deals with real issues and that it feels like a true story come to life. There's no pomp and circumstance, just a really great down to earth story. I can't wait to read the rest of this series!
Definitely a must read!
Alison Mello wove her magic into this book making one seem as if they were part of the story. A good book will make you laugh, and cry and make you not want to put it down. This book did all three for me. Her book also covers PTSD as well and I give her kudos for that.
It is laid back with several caring characters. A little drama vuy nothing over the edge. There is some sex that is a teeny graphic but not very.
