On Ava's insistence she takes a guided hike and runs into the beautiful 'Annalisse', a magnificent unfinished house someone started and didn't finish. The house has a 'soul', a 'jambah' which in voodoo is like a ghost. The woman appears to Katie and the house speaks to her soul. She decides to use her inheritance and savings to buy it and finish it, a wild hair of an idea she knows, but something she wants badly.
With several side stories in between her trip and the move, then the dealing with house issues, you barely notice the mystery creeping in. By the time it's going full force, it's impossible to stop as you race toward the outcome.
EXCELLENT mystery build up, characters you care about and worry for; beautiful depiction of the island environment. All around fantastic storytelling!! If book 2 were available I would buy it immediately. Unique plot and gorgeous cover art, too. Absolutely enjoyable, would most definitely recommend!
At the behest of her brother Collin, and her best friend Emily she decides to take a Caribbean vacation. Then her life gets very interesting.
If you like to read stories that are sentimental, and funny, with little mystery and romance you are going to like this one.

I was enchanted from the first paragraph, then sank into the 1st chapter, giggled, laughed out loud and thoroughly enjoyed myself right up to the righteous ending--the bad guy gets his just deserts--yes, this is the proper spelling for this phrase--I checked--in the end! Yea!
Back to the book: Wonderfully plotted, well developed characters, and a ghost aka jumbie, that anyone would like. It had, for me, just the right amount of romance--with a hint of things to come, and most of it on a warm Caribbean island. Yummy and Highly recommended
"Annalise" I wish you were mine! Jumbie included. I felt Happy. Peaceful. Aww-struck. Visual awareness of the description of the surroundings. I also felt...Heart broken. Frightened. Dissatisfied. Scared. Anxious. Loved and Hated. I was part of this world and Hated to see it end. Great writing Pamela. Thanks for sharing.
