The story was most interesting to my 10 year old grandson but all the kids enjoyed the story. The audio version is rich with believable character's voices and the dialog very realistic. All three of them giggled and laughed as the characters came to life and created believable scenes in this delightful fantasy.
This is the first audio book I've used for kids and it is wonderful to watch them listen to a story...no computer game or television show can engage them quite like listening to a good book.
McAdam has a firm grasp on realistic dialog and storyline aimed at 10-18 year old kids and I will look for more of her work to have on hand for all my grandchildren.
I highly recommend the audio version of Saving Mim for hot summer days and long car trips.
Saving Mim: Charlie Kadabra Last of the Magicians by Nan McAdam is a great read for readers 10 through adult. This book is for ages 10 - 18 and grade levels 4 - 10. Once you open the book, it will grab you and hold you down. You'll watch those pages turn and turn and turn some more until you get to the last page. As you read it, you will be drawn in and feel as though you are part of the story. The story is vivid, exciting, magical, active yet it is also sprinkled with a bit of wisdom, humor and tenderness. Charlie doesn't know that he's the last of the guardians of Mim. The evil Dr. Pi wants to destroy Mim and all of the magic. Does Charlie find out he is the last? Is Dr. Pi able to destroy everything? I gave this book 5 stars but it deserves more. This would make a good read aloud for teachers to read to their students in class. It would make a great gift to give. It would also make a great addition to your child's library or to any library's bookshelf. I recommend this book to everyone especially anyone who enjoys reading about fantasy and adventures and those who love magic, monsters and dragons. I look for more from Nan McAdam.
He goes to the aid of the rabbit and blows the teacher up. Before anything else happens, his friend Emily calls him and he. the rabbit and Emily go through a veil-like curtain and end up in the land called Mim. Charlie finds out he is the last of the Magicians and must protect Mim.
He and his new friend go on many adventures as Charlie gains his powers He must defeat Dr. Pi. Will he be able to get rid of the nasty doctor and save Mim?
This is an exciting book, a real page turner. I had to keep reading to find out what happens to Charlie and his friend. Lots of action and beautiful descriptions. Kids ages 10 to all adults will like this book. I think it is even suitable for parents to read to the younger kids at bedtime.
I got this book from the author through Bostick for an honest review.
