Filtered Water Anywhere

Filtered Water Anywhere

The reusable 0.1 absolute micron Squeeze water filter produces clean water from freshwater lakes, rivers, and streams, as well as faucets in your home or hotel room while traveling (domestic and international).

To start filtering water, simply fill the squeeze pouch with water from your water source, then attach the Squeeze filter onto the pouch and start drinking via the removable flip top cap.

Versatile Hydration

Versatile Hydration

The included adapter kit allows you to install the Squeeze filter inline on your hydration pack (sold separately). Simply fill your reservoir with dirty water and drink safe, clean water through your hydration tube.

You can also create a gravity water filtration system using the adapters, included tube/drinking straw, and mesh carrying pouch to hang the Squeeze.

The Squeeze filter also attaches onto water or soda bottles with a standard threaded top.

Filter Again and Again

Filter Again and Again

The Squeeze filter can be cleaned and reused almost indefinitely with no expensive cartridges to replace… ever.

When water flow begins to diminish, simply perform a backwash to restore up to 98% of the filter’s flow rate and enjoy fresh, clean water wherever you roam.

Sawyer International

Sawyer's International Mission

Sawyer believes everyone deserves access to clean water — from hikers in the backcountry to indigenous people groups in the remotest corners of the world.

For over 10 years, Sawyer has been working with a variety of charities and churches who are on a mission to make a long-lasting impact in the lives of those around the world without access to clean drinking water.

High Performance Water Filtration

fiber strength

Hollow Fiber Membrane

Sawyer’s water filters are comprised of tiny hollow fiber membranes that allow water to enter their core through tiny micro-pores.

Thicker fiber walls combined with a smaller inner diameter make Sawyer fibers 75% stronger* than typical hollow fiber membranes, giving you a fast flow and enabling the filter to be continually backwashed forcefully to restore up to 98% of the original flow rate.

absolute

0.1 Absolute Micron Filtering

Each Sawyer water filter features 0.1 micron absolute filtration, meaning there is no pore size larger than 0.1 micron in size.

This makes it nearly impossible for microplastics, harmful bacteria, protozoa, or cysts like E. coli, Giardia, Vibrio cholerae, and Salmonella typhi (which cause Cholera and Typhoid) to pass through.

protected fibers

Fiber Protection

Sawyer's hollow fiber membranes are fully encased and sealed to keep them protected. When fibers are not enclosed, physical damage of exposed fibers could allow harmful pathogens to pass through.

tested 3 times

Tested 3 Times

Every Sawyer filter is performance tested three separate times during the manufacturing process for your protection.

Testing occurs after the fiber element construction and twice after casing assembly to ensure no harmful pathogens leak through the sealed case or internal O-rings.

    Inexpensive, lightweight and efficient!
As an avid backpacker who is on the trial for up to a week at a time I needed a water filtration system that was simple, lightweight, efficient and inexpensive. Sawyer has always been my go to filtration system but my previous Sawyer was the smaller mini which unfortunately had its drawbacks and needed to be backwashed multiple times per trip. I found this system to be the best and adapted it to be gravity fed into smart water bottles using a "tornado tube" its nice to be able to sit down and let your filter do the work instead of squeezing and aiming and making a mess like I use to do. Personally I prefer the 32oz and 64oz bladders, I find the 16oz bladders are near useless.

I bought this a few weeks ago and tried it with tap water. Worked great and flow was flawless. I waited until now, after being used in the field with a Scout outing, to write a review. There were 6 boys and 3 men on the two day trip. We used two of these filters but this one was used to filter at least 6 gallons of still, clear, lake water. I used the 64 oz / 2 liter bag only. The filter worked flawlessly and I had no issues. The bag seemed very durable but we took care not to twist or wring the water out. We would fill the bag by scooping up water in a plastic jug and pouring it into the opening of the bag. This method was fast and the jug made a simple container for storing the units and parts. Once filled, I attached the filter and wiped off the excess dirty water with small towel (part of a synthetic shammy). Filtering was a snap by folding the full bag in half and squeezing the two halves together. Once about half the water was out, I then rolled the bag up like a tube of toothpaste from the bottom. Water filtered quickly and but I did find squeezing harder didn't filter faster - so don't wear youself or the bag out by forcing it. A one liter Nalgene filled in about 45 seconds - fast. I didn't notice any decrease in flow but I did backwash it with the syringe at the end of each day. That took about 15 seconds so I considered it good PM for the next day. It got cold at night so I did keep the filters in the sleeping bag to avoid risk of freezing.

Overall, I found the bag (the one I used) to be very durable, the filter was fast and no one got sick.
A great, lightweight product at a great price point. I brought the standard pump filter as a backup but I'm leaving the pump at home next time. Two of these were more than enough for our trip. Several other ASM's have made purchases since our campout.

After pouring over reviews on all the top water filters, I finally settled on this one and I am 100% satisfied.

I chose this filter because it is theoretically a lifetime filter. All you have to do is backwash it with clean water and its like brand new. In all of our trips though we have still yet to backwash it. I keep 24 oz of distilled water on the boat for this purpose.

Also, no moving parts, weight, size and price were all factors that convinced me to buy this filter.

I have used this water filter for 3 canoe camping trips in northern Minnesota. a total of about 12-15 days of use.

I figured out quickly that this filter usually improves the water. However, You may find yourself looking for better water sources like we did. Here is my experiences with different water sources:

If water was taken from rocky areas the water will taste like nothing at all.

If water is from swampy areas where dark earth is visible it surprisingly tasted like nothing at all (we were forced to filter some nasty stuff due to accessibility and it turned out well) Even if the water smells strongly of biological growth it will clean it up nicely.

Sandy Areas - Depending on the geography it may improve or degrade water flavor. I found that on parts of the St. Croix river the sand is extremely fine and the minerals have basically devolved into the water in some areas. this flavor does not go away with filtering. However on a different river (Rum River) the river is almost completely sandy, but it is certainly a different kind of sand and turns out it was some of the best tasting water we filtered so far!

      -Creeks/streams/springs:
We tried to find springs and creeks often because we belied it would be cleaner than the river water and would taste better. However a lot of the rocks and soil have trace amounts of iron in it and left the water tasting like iron. about 2/3 of the time we would find a spring or spring-fed stream it tasted like iron.

Now I hear a lot of complaints about the bags, and Yes they do look like with some time they could wear out. But we were very careful with them and they haven't sprung a leak yet. We however bought some platypus bags and are moving towards using them more since these bags are showing signs of wear already. If you are worried about the bags it comes with, then just go buy some platypus bags. The water filter is worth it and you can use any container that has the universal "water bottle" type of threads.

One thing that I noticed is if you are cooking, cleaning, and drinking with this water for 2 people it adds up quickly. I was constantly filling up water bottles especially on a hot day. This became very time consuming. I bought the fittings to make a gravity filter but I have yet to put one together. I am hoping to hang a large bag of water in a tree and just let gravity do the trick instead of a long process of squeezing and filling bags.

All in all, this is one of the most important pieces of equipment I own. I am thinking of buying another just for a backup in case one freezes or malfunctions when we are many miles away from a potable water source. (we have boiling and tablet options too)

I've spent a *lot* of time in the field, both professionally and recreationally, and this is the best water treatment system I've ever put hands on. It both filters (removes particulate matter like sediment, heavy metals, fallout, zombie skin) and sanitizes (removes or neutralizes biological contaminants such as cysts, bacteria, and parasites). It requires no chemicals. It requires no batteries. There are no hoses or pumps. The volume and speed is the best I've ever seen. It costs less than 40 bucks! It is dead simple to use. The filter is permanent and lifetime and is guaranteed for one million gallons, assuming it does not become damaged or frozen (freezing would cause the water trapped in the filter to expand and rupture the filter filaments).

It took about 20 whole seconds to figure out that with the in-line adapter kit I bought (Sawyer Inline Adapter Water Filter Connections ) that I could turn the included 2 quart soft side canteen into a small hydration system just by taking the hose off my Camelbak and attaching it to the Sawyer bag with absolutely no modification (other than the inline adapter). And then 10 seconds later, I realized I could do it with only the outflow adapter, filter and bag.

In the words of Frank Barrone, "Holy, crap."

There are ONLY two thins I can think of to make this system better.
      1) Keepers for all the caps and adapters to keep them from getting lost. But I'm pretty sure I can cure that issue with a little Gorilla Glue and a length of 550 paracord gut.
      2) The option to add the "Point Zero Two" filter for viruses, but the flow rate might be crazy slow, so that one is a maybe. If I'm in an area where that is a problem, a little bleach (POST filtration!) will take care of that.

Also no mention if it is, or can be made, CBRNE safe.

      Just top marks all around.

Excellent - used it on the Scottish Great Glen Canoe Trail and on a week kayaking trip around Finland. Easy to use took no time to produce 2 litres of water. Filling the squeze sack IS awkward but I took a small plastic water bottle and filled that with the dirty water before decanting it into the squeeze sack. Easy to clean. I read the reviews, saw the YouTube videos for the different brands and decided to get a Sawyer because they use some of their profits to help people in developing country get access to clean drinking water by donating their filters.

Reviewed in Germany on July 9, 2021
SAWYER Squeeze Filter (set) - nicely made. As I have no laboratory I cannot assess whether it works as designed or not. from the experience - it looks like it works.
Why you should think to have one of those? - if you are in the nature for a long time - the question where to get drinkable water becomes a vital one. And this filter might be the solution preventing you from being sick or even dyeing. It's not cheap, but definitely something you might want to consider.
The set has all you need to start from. you might want to have additional bags purchased for the in case something happens. do now squeeze these bags too much - this would not accelerate the purification process, rather increase the likelihood that you damage the bag.
      Happy hiking!

Coli, and removes 99. 9999% of all protozoa such as giardia and cryptosporidium (independent testing laboratory Hydration, LLC.; microbiological report S05-03). The Squeeze Filter also filters out 100% of microplastics. To use, simply fill up the reusable pouch (included on most models) at any water source, screw the filter onto the pouch, and drink directly from the filter or squeeze water into a water bottle. The Squeeze Filter is backed by a manufacturer's limited lifetime warranty. Sawyer individually tests each and every Squeeze Filter three times to performance standards before packaging. The Squeeze Filter comes in a range of models to fit your needs. The SP129 Personal System comes with two 32-ounce, BPA-free water pouches, while the SP131 Personal comes with three BPA-free water pouches (two 32-ounce, one 16-ounce) for more versatile water storage. The SP137 Hydration Kit includes inline adapters for hydration pack bladders (sold separately), plus one 16-ounce pouch and a straw for drinking directly from the source. Great for emergencies, backcountry treks with a large group, or overseas mission trips, the All-in-One System is fully loaded with a 32-ounce pouch, faucet adapter, and adapters for attaching the filter to a 5-gallon bucket (sold separately). The SP181 can create clean, filtered water for a group that can yield up to 540 gallons of clean water per day from any freshwater source. Ideal for boil alerts and emergency preparedness kits, the SP182 Faucet Adapter Kit is paired with a faucet adapter that easily connects to almost any household or outdoor faucet worldwide (pouch not included). Since 1984, Sawyer has used technological advancements to create products that keep you outdoors — from the backcountry to the backyard — including insect repellents for both skin and clothing, water filters for camping and emergencies, and sun protection.
