"Book of the Year : The Saxon Outlaws Revenge by Elisabeth Hobbes.
This was by far the most difficult decision I had to make, I have read so many brilliant books this year, but this in particular did stick with me. The entirety of this book is just perfection." - Chicks, Rogues and Scandals
"Beyond the romance, this story is chock full of drama right from the first scene. There is an ambush, a hostage situation, a mass execution, some spying, and a foiled plot that unfolds in an awesome way." - Romantichistoricalreviews
From the Author
Dispossessed Saxons who refused to submit to theiroppressors took refuge in the forests of England. Theybecame known as 'silvatici' or 'wildmen'. Among themost well-known were Hereward the Wake and Eadricthe Wild, both of whom eventually reached peace withtheir new rulers and were pardoned. It is these menand others like them who are my basis for Aelric.
This story takes place in Cheshire. Hamestan is thename given in the Domesday Book to the Hundredthat covers the area where I now live. Readers wishingto investigate the locations that inspired me shouldsearch for Alderley Edge, Mow Cop, Lud's Churchand The Roaches. Thanks go to my husband andchildren for accompanying me on frequent muddywalks.
As always, each of my books has a song. This timeit was 'It's All Coming Back to Me Now'. The bestversion, in my opinion, is by Pandora's Box.
