Lori Allen is here to help you say yes to what's next.
Hey, girlfriend. I’m wondering if you’ve ever asked yourself the question, “where do I go from here?”. I know I have. The answer, of course, is, “I go forward. I say yes to myself. I say yes to my passions. I say yes to what’s next.”!
Listen, girl. I have been there.
I’ve spent my life being the poster child of what to do and what not to do. I’ve seen my way through the unexpected: I’m a business owner, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a cancer survivor. And through it all, I have learned so many valuable lessons. I have learned to lead with grace, to take time for myself, to enjoy meaningful moments with my family, and to pursue fulfilling relationships with friends.
I’ve learned to say yes to what’s next, and I’m here to teach you how to do the same.
I can show you how to get your butt off the couch, live your passion, and take charge of your money while you do it! This is your opportunity to give your life a makeover. This is your opportunity to get real with yourself, and give yourself the truest form of self-care: a therapy session with you. This is your opportunity to say yes to what’s next.
About the Author
Lori Allen opened Bridals by Lori just two weeks after graduating from the all-female Columbia College in South Carolina. Four decades later she is one of the world’s foremost experts on bridal couture and the central figure of TLC’s reality show Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta, filmed on-site at Lori’s bridal salon and shown in more than 120 countries.
Lori’s role as a bridal expert, successful female business entrepreneur, TV personality, and breast cancer survivor has led her to interviews by top-tier media outlets, including CNN, ABC’s Good Morning America, NBC’s Today, and the Wall Street Journal. She currently resides in Atlanta with her husband, Eddie, and, thankfully, not far from their daughter and her husband, son and his wife, and three grandchildren.

Honesty is the best policy. And if you walk out of the ladies' room with toilet paper stuck to your shoe, I'm the first to dive for it and get it off of there before you even knew it to save you some embarrassment. That is why I am going to be completely honest and say the book was just too light for me. Light, literally, in that it was much smaller than I expected for the price that it was and also light on content. Being in the "forgotten demographic" that the book was written for, I was disappointed to read a lot of advice that I read everywhere. "Find your purpose. Volunteer. Go back to school. Get your finances in order." That is nothing new or earth shattering and certainly nothing you won't find on every "empty nest" blog or article.
Where Lori really shines is when she talks about her victory over breast cancer. This book is perfect for a woman of a certain age who is or has dealt with breast cancer. I would give this book to a woman I know who is fighting that battle and I think the book should have focused more on that very specific audience.
Not all of us can buy one or two new "pieces" for our "wardrobe" each month. Not all of us have the vulnerability it takes to make new friends and fight loneliness. The book did not delve into things a lot of us struggle with. Making enough money to have the kind of lifestyle we would like. Fighting trauma and abuse situations.
While the book did not delve deep enough into true issues for the majority of women in their 50s and 60s, I did laugh out loud quite a bit, especially when Lori talked about the worst moment of the week, when you have to greet people at church, and about her friend, Monte, who I think everyone should have a best friend just like him.
A great gift for a woman going through health challenges but not really a game changer or helpful in my journey.
I couldn't wait to get Lori's book, I even got the audio version! I loved listening to Lori, hearing her emotions and and how funny she can be. I laughed and cried.
I say we have met, and been friends and keep in contact, but do I know everything about Lori??? No, I don't, and that is why this book is even better.
Seriously, get the book and get the audio! Lori shares a lot of amazing "life" in her book. And boy, did some of what she had to say hit home with me, as I am sure it will with you!
You won't be disappointed, you may have a whole new outlook on life and what you would like to see is, "next" for you!! Y'all enjoy, "Say Yes To What’s Next!"
In a society that still tends to devalue women over fifty, Lori reminds us that we still have much to offer, to learn, and to share. Her chapters on the value of self care and rediscovering ourselves and our value are words we need to hear. Lori's candid talk on her personal battle with breast cancer is inspirational. Filled with wit, humor, insight, and southern charm, I highly recommend Say Yes To What's Next!

I am, however, disappointed and unimpressed with the way it was delivered. It was thrown over the fence. Thankfully it didn't rain or it would've been badly damaged.
