Also should have shopped around as I would have saved $100 USD going to another site. Shame I feel cheated
raise the track in that manner, the connecting pins on the tracks stretch and create multiple electrical failures resulting in the cars not moving
and probably a very unhappy and confused child who this gift was probably intended for (all the pins must align to conduct electricity
properly throughout the track). Also if you or your child were hoping for a "race" type of racing set, you will be sorely disappointed with this set because the idea of this track is to "knock" your opposing fighter off of the track. Not that that isn't already too easy to do if you pull harder on the throttle in the turns (they fly off the curves), but what real fun is that for a child? If your "cars" go head to head they only will end up colliding and off the track as well. And this track unlike other slot car tracks out there has NO guardrails to clip on the track to avoid a flyoff , so your only option is to either buy some at a hobby store, or keep the cars slow in the turns. Now these are common problems to virtually any slot car set out there, this is not just a problem confined to one brand. But the idea of "kicking your opponent off the track" loses its luster and very quickly. Also for the alternate configuration in the manual for the track, the box has a perforated area where you can remove the pieces to prop up the track instead of using the plastic bridges, so there goes the box if you needed to take it back. Also another problem with this set is that the cars with their respective spacecraft on top are very top heavy and more prone to breakage where the X-Wing and TIE fighters connect to the car bodies, so if you fly them off the track too many times, you are going to find either missing pieces from the spacecraft, or you will be unable to put the X-Wing or TIE back on its frame. And last but not least, since this item has been discontinued by the manufacturer, you might be tempted to buy one simply for the "good deal". Save your money!!! Parts are very difficult to find for these cars (Bodies, motor parts, braids) and the price for a complete X-Wing or TIE replacement will be soon a lot more than the set cost originally. So if its for the Star Wars fan in your family, its fine as long as you don't either use it too much, or just put it on a display shelf. As for a child, forget it, there are a lot better and cheaper sets out there that will make them a lot more happy than this set.
Speaking of track, a few of them don't fit together as well as they should, and the "adjustable" speed controller only has 2 settings, full trigger movement and half trigger movement, even half trigger is fast enough to send the "cars" off the track at the first corner.
