Cat Rowan is in the last possible place Thomas Jellicoe would ever think of looking. After she disappeared one night in India, Thomas spent two years scouring the globe for Cat. When he finally returns home to his brother’s estate in Hampshire, he is shocked to discover their family’s new governess, Miss Anne Cates, is none other than Cat. Alas, Thomas is not the only one to have discovered Cat’s new whereabouts: a mysterious gunman takes a shot at her moments after Thomas arrives. Now, in a cruel twist of fate, Thomas may lose Cat once again unless he can convince her to trust him with her life as well as her love. Essex seamlessly shifts the action in the story back and forth between the protagonists’ first meeting, in India, and their reunion, in England, and her third exotic, enthralling Reckless Brides historical romance is a potent combination of dangerous intrigue and sexy desire. --John Charles

Thomas stole my heart, he has become one of my all time favorite heroes (only Varian from Love, Remember Me is ahead of him!). His love and unwavering devotion to Cat was awesome to behold.
I loved Cat too, she was so loving and giving. My heart broke for all her loss and pain. If ever a heroine deserved the love and adoration of a truly wonderful hero (and in my opinion - most don't ) she did!
I have loved every book I have read by Ms. Essex and would recommend her books to anyone. She is a gifted writer and storyteller.
I loved Cat as the heroine and Tamvir as Thomas' other side. I truly wish that Antigone and Will would have made an appearance since I think Antigone would have appreciated the mare.
So glad I pre-ordered this book! I can see more stories with the children as they grow up too
You do get a sense of the exotic here, and you can imagine India as the hero and heroine had experienced it. But the flashback story telling is seriously making this draaaaag. Halfway through the book and you realize you were told so much of the story but didn't quite feel the urgency. There is so much TELLING.
The flashbacks are not long intervals of time, by the way. They're about half a chapter to a full chapter, then you're back in the present where the story crawls. I can appreciate the author's skill in weaving back and forth in time, and she does it seamlessly, but to me, it's hard to fully invest in these characters whilst trying to untangle each lie or revelation the hero or heroine drops or, this one kills me, hints at.
Still Looking forward to more from this author. Hopefully there'll be more books like Almost A Scandal (the first in this series.)
