Scandinavian Mythology (Mythology Around the World) is an impressive little book that is packed full of exciting information--historical, cultural, mythical--and excellent, helpful illustrations that complement the text. It's a high interest, easy-to-read choice for young people who enjoy learning about other people and their stories. While the book seems a bit pricey for its actual size and depth, it truly is a well-made book, and I like the "scholarly," but child-friendly, approachable format.Read more ›

This book is part of Rosen Publishing Group's Mythology Around the World series. It looks into the myths of the Scandinavian world. The book starts out with some information on Scandinavian culture and ancient history, and then launches into the meat with discussion of Ymir, Yggdrasill, the gods, the giants, the dwarves, and Scandinavian heroes. Along the way, the reader is treated to many large and colorful pictures.

Like all of the books in this series, this book is surprisingly good. It gives the reader a good grounding in understanding Scandinavian mythology, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to all readers, even adult readers.
