Innovation and tradition share equally deep roots at SCARPA, a muti-generational, family-owned business whose headquarters and manufacturing facilities are in the same region of northern Italy where it was founded in 1938. SCARPA builds performance footwear for climbing, hiking, skiing, mountaineering, trail-running and other outdoor pursuits. Lacing system allows for a range of adjustment according to terrain
Solid toe cap good protection
Fit true to size
Zero break in
VERY GRIPPY sole, yes these soles will smear, and make good purchase when wet.
Sole built for edging
Tread pattern self cleans or does not accumulate mud
Air drys fairly quick
Solid durable build
You might want to go outside and have fun
Laces don't seem to hold as well as when the were new, maybe they have accumulated embedded dirt and sweat. This is not uncommon, Nylon on Nylon tends to slip.
No claims of being water proof, No GTX version. No drain holes
Sticky soles are noisy/tacky on indoor surfaces. Save for outdoors
I had been using various running shoes, but wanted to upgrade. The difference is wonderful. The good: 1: The rubber is very sticky 2: The laces go almost to the toe, allowing a great fit on my wide feet. 3: The heel has a tread pattern that grips well when going down hill on loose gravel. 4: The toe is smooth, and allows for improved edging.
The only downside is there isn't much padding in the forefoot. That's the trade off for the improved climbing capability. I have no trouble with it, but I only have to hike 6 to 8 miles round trip to my climbing spots.
I have worked the shoes hard over the last few days, and they look rock solid.
All in all, I'm glad I bought these, and am having much fun on my scrambles/climbs

These are great shoes. Except they don't fit. I have the 1st generation and love them eventhough they frayed and tore at the base of the outer toe where the rubber and suede meet. Read morePublished 11 days ago by Excelsious

Excellent shoes. I tend to only wear on approach and easy climbs in the hopes of extending the life. Super comfy but still gives you great footing on mixed services. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Amazon Customer
Great 'tackle everything' shoe. Very grippy rubber and can squeak indoors. The half sizes really made a difference for me as I purchased a 44.5. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Ted
