Perfect fit and comfort right out of the box.
It fits well for climbing, hiking and shopping.
I have only had these shoes a week but the fit is good and they seem comfortable with minimal break in.

This is simply a great shoe. It is supportive but does not interfere with feeling the ground. I use it to cross train and while it is not cushioned I feel very secure and able to jump, lift and balance any weight in any direction. Excellent shoe for training your body in multiple planes of motion. It doesn't matter if I'm doing deadlifts, plyometrics, or single leg balance exercises, this shoe keeps me focused on what's important and not what's on my feet.

I am a trainer and coach and have used lots of different shoes including top of the line Nike, Adidas, etc. I am always picking these up for use in my studio.

On another note: I truly respect Scarpa as a company: the quality that they build into each and every product shows in every detail. There's a lot of stuff produced in Asia right now that is more expensive and falls apart in 8 months. If you are particular and like solid, functional design, you will like Scarpa's products and these shoes.

I should first say that I actually purchased these at REI on clearance for $90 and not here on Amazon(where they've been sitting in my wishlist for months. I've have wanted these for a long time now but never had a chance to actually try a pair on(and I never buy shoes anymore without trying them on first). So after getting them home, I immediately covered them with some waterproofing spray because I've heard they're terrible with rain and puddles. The next day I planned on wearing them to work and hopefully they would break in some before a hiking trip the following weekend. Well I can't speak for others but the break in period I needed was much longer then expected. After three weeks now of wearing them almost everywhere, they're still pretty darn stiff. This is great for those looking for a very rugged shoe but I was hoping for more of a daily wear/hike/mountain shoe. As of now they're pretty comfy but I think I'm going to need another month or so before they're a perfect fit.
Anyway, as of today I don't have any major complaints about these shoes except for the stiffness. It's a mid-weight ascent shoe with plenty of scrambling capabilities. The suede looks high end and seems to mesh pretty well throughout the shoe. In my opinion it's got great design and can be worn for casual nights out. The toe cap is firm and protective but minimal in appearance. The Vibram sole is thick and sticky, even on wet concrete, and I'm expecting many years of use before I destroy them. Insole comfort is decent but you may need inserts if you have anything but a flat arch. Size was about normal for what I wear, but almost everyone else reviewing them has said that they're a little narrow. The full lace system works well but sucks when you have to change them out, no biggie though.

I have owned these shoes since 2011 and put them to the top of several Colorado mountains. They have the necessary stiffness to carry a 20lb pack across tough terrain without causing undue foot pain and sharp jabs in the soles of my feet like running shoes or lighter hiking shoes. I really like the toe area and vibram sole for scrambling boulders and negotiating exposed areas. After three summer's of use, the EVA cushion in the heel was too collapsed and stiff to be much comfort. They are now heading to retirement and I am debating a new pair for the upcoming spring season. The stitching and glue held up very well for the paces I put these through. This was the best fit I found in a hikeable approach shoe that I could put 12 miles on in a day without my feet feeling cramped, but still chimney and get good toe push on the climbs. I measure a 10.5, with an average width and the size 44 fit perfect in length and width. Mine are made in Romania.

This is a very well designed and constructed 'approach shoe' which means a stiff light hiker intended for difficult trails or some boulder scrambling. For this purpose it has a rigid structure and narrow box. Extremely high quality and worth the money as a technical shoe; it is not a sneaker and if that's all you want, you can find lots of them cheaper and more comfortable elsewhere.

The only caveat about this boot is that the sizes are a bit idiosyncratic and you would do better to find a local shop to try it on instead of ordering from the internet. Scarpa makes their products in different factories in Eastern Europe and they all come out a little different. Try it on first and remember it should be a bit close fitting in front.

I've had a pair of Zens as my daily driver shoe since December 2007. One pair in almost six years!

They get used on the street, on approaches, on hikes, mountain biking... they've seen four continents and countless miles on and off trail. They've even been to a wedding (not recommended haha)!

No other shoe I've ever used has ever lasted this long with this much use. Given the amount of wear since I got them I should have at least a couple more years to go before I need to replace them.

This is the second pair I've got. This time for my son who liked the way these shoes fit me and did not really look worn after almost a year of moderate use. Great for hiking and light runs on the trails. Not exactly lightweight shoes but I appreciate how solid they feel. There is no warming sensation to my feet when I were them as it is in case of other running/hiking shoes. I guess I might be mentally allergic to wearing plastic or PVC.
Zen's are absolutely great shoes. Since got them the first time I stopped looking for any other similar purpose shoes.
