LOVE LOVE LOVE this series growing up. I lost track on how many times I read them. I wanted to be able to share this with my kids. My sister took our copies years ago when she moved. So I bought this set. It was very important that it had the original illustrations. The pictures are the best part of the books!! I'm glad to be able to share this with my kids and they are loving them just as much as I do!!!

I read these books a lot in my school library when I was in middle school. I had those images burned into my memory from it and it made them so unsettling to me. Without those original artworks, the impact of the reading experience was just flat and lost. So when I saw these were the original artworks, I was delighted and a little dubious. Too many times I have been disappointing with the falsehood of the claim of original artworks. These, however came as described with the original artworks and in absolutely perfect condition. I'm more than ecstatic that I finally have these classics in original form in my collection!

My books were as described "like new". The only flaw was that somehow there was a rip on the cover in the middle of the spine in all 3 which was weird, but no matter, the pages were in pristine condition!
The only other thing that was different about these books from when I grew up was that I remember the books being slightly larger in size and also the paper was thicker stock, but again, no matter! This was just what I was looking for.

These are the books with the correct illustrations! Illustrations by Stephen Gammell and stories retold by Alvin Schwartz, you can't go wrong here. The only difference I have noticed from my book I originally bought in the 90's is a slight size difference. These reprints are slightly smaller, as seen in my picture, but it's not a big deal at all. So ya, whether you want to relive your childhood or just give your kids the same nightmares you used to have, this set of books is definitely worth buying.

When I got my books I was so excited but then I found some problems and compared them to my old ones I noticed that the pictures and words were way too dark I couldn't see the pictures or read clearly and also some of the pictures weren't filled in completely on the edge it was cut off, I don't know if this was just how people got it but when I first got my old book they weren't this dark and hard too see
